New, BIGGER, Star Wars AT-AT

I don't collect SW, but didn't Hasbro make a big honkin' electronic AT-AT circa 1997? Was that one not big enuff?

nothing official but based on the BMF falcon about twice as large as the kenner original in the body and more evenly scaled. Hasbro has reissued the at at several times all using a modified form of the 1980 kenner mold, This one is going to be a whole new animal and I'm sure will have a price to go with all those tooling costs (150.00 US and god only knows how much europe will have to pay). unlike the falcon hasbro wil hope to resuse the mold in different paint aps over the next several years (desert, jungle for endor etc) to make the expense worth it.

hasbro won't do a "playset" but basically that's waht these things are. Personally I rather see a playset (ship corridors) kids and adults could enjoy them more and they would enable recreating more scenes

I'm from the "bigger is DEFINITELY better" crowd! I understand all about little kids not being able to play with some of the larger toys.

But I also feel like that is NOT a good enough reason to prevent older collectors from having closer to correct scale vehicles if they want them.

For nearly 30 years I HATED HATED HATED the tiny, rinky-dink Remote Controlled Jawa Sandcrawler that Kenner provided back in '79.

A couple of years ago, I took matters into my own hands and commissioned the construction of this close to scale Jawa Sandcrawler for my 3-3/4" figures. It measures 2-1/2 feet tall and 5 feet 2 inches in length












I am shortly going to purchase this 3-3/4" scaled Jabba The Hutt Sailbarge for my collection. About 5 feet 6 inches in length fully detailed inside and out:











Despite what some here may think, last year's new Millennium Falcon was an ENORMOUS financial success for Hasbro, despite it's hefty price tag, and despite the downturn on the world economy.

This new Super Deluxe AT-AT that Hasbro is about to release could easily perform even better than the Falcon. Unlike the Falcon, this very popular Original Trilogy vehicle is likely to sell in multiples to many "fleet builder" collectors, and diorama builders.

I know I'm planning to pick up six or so.

Rumor suggests that this new AT-AT may be as tall as about 31 or 32 inches.

That seems to be about as big as this custom from my friend in South America.

I still think that the head is too big for the body.
So I would size the head down, or just make the biggest baddest SW vehicle of all times with a huge body.
Proportions are still wrong....

The at at will sell well in the collector market as all the reissues since POTF2 have been endor paint aps not hoth. also the Big falcon suffered from having 2 prior reissues of the kenner mold available at low prices on ebay. even the hasbro reissues of the kenner at at all average about $100 us plus shipping so it's not a big leap to see a collector paying 150-200 for a giant one and even some parents making it the big christmas present in the winter the way the turbo tank and atte were the last 2 years

very cool pics! bigger is definitely better! my 7 year old cant even lift the falcon ship but who says it was for him anyways...

on a side note, i almost bought the san francisco fao store display falcon hanging from their ceiling when it closed down but didnt realize that it was the size of a full size car!

Was the re-release of the Falcon bigger than the Kenner version? I wanted one but was afraid to take the risk of buying a slightly differnent version of what I already have.

Much bigger. 100% all new tooling. It is, in my opinion, the greatest Star Wars toy ever made. Totally serious.

I read an article about a dude who made a Rebel Blocade runner in correct scale with the Kenner figures. He hauls it to conventions on a huge trailer.

About the Death Star, a guy wrote into a toy mag years back saying he wanted to make a Lego Death Star in scale with his minifigures. They figured out it would be bigger than Iowa or something.

Well, I've got one. And you're right. The TRU Millennium Falcon display is about as close as you can get to Han Solo's ship in correct scale for 3-3/4" figures. The ship is 6 feet in length and about 4-1/2 feet wide.

This Falcon looks GREAT next to Hasbro X-Wing Fighters and (attacking) Hasbro (Big Winged) Tie Fighters. The scale is just about perfect.


Prior to moving to my new home, I had my giant Millennium Falcon propped up on its edge behind my bed. Here she is next to life-size standees of Han Solo and Chewbacca.







After I moved, I became concerned about damage to this collectible, so I made a giant box to store it in my collection room. I even printed up a huge millennium falcon graphic for the box.

unfortunately, I just don't have the ceiling height to display this collectible, so this box is the ship's home for the time being.

She's comfy, though.

When they first came out I know people who offered upwards of a thousand dollars and more to buy one and were told no.
