For those of you who missed it, or had your orders cancelled. Spidey 77 is back up on Walmart.com as of right now. Who knows how long it will last.

So yes I preordered again. Thanks for posting that! We’ll see what happens. They did change the date to late August now, instead of June.

I received my Marvel Legends Spider-Man '77 figure today from Walmart. I love the box art (from the online promo pics, I thought the images on the sides were photos, but they are not; they are illustrations) and the figure is very nicely made. I had pre-ordered it a couple of months or so back when they became available on the Walmart Canada website. Unfortunately, they are now sold out on the site.

Like many here, I watched the show as a child during its original airing back in the late '70s. Years later when I found out there were video cassettes of the series released, I picked up every tape I could. I found one tape (with the episode PHOTO FINISH) in a pawn shop; a couple of them (the Rhino releases) were bought brand new; and I even talked one or two Blockbuster Video managers into selling me their stores' rental copies (the Playhouse Video releases from CBS Fox) back in the '90s.

So, I'm very happy with this figure. It's definitely something I never thought would be released, and hopefully anyone who had their orders cancelled will be able to get one eventually at a price close to retail.

I really like that side illustration being framed by the mirror...nice callback to the costume reveal scene in the tv movie.

Wow, that is a nice box design! I dig those side portraits! Figure looks great! Mine is apparently still coming, but I got a notice it was delayed until July? What's up with that?

Yep, it's definitely a nod to the costume reveal in the pilot film. The side illustrations are super nice.

Here are a couple of more pics.

It appears that Hasbro purposely misaligned the spider web lines paint apps in the neck to make it look like the mask of the film/series, and the silver eyes also appear to feature the mesh-like pattern of very tiny dots as well.

When I read about the cancelations and delays, I was worried that my order would be cancelled, too. Hopefully this problem wasn't too widespread.

They did the same thing for the legends Toei figure. But that detail isn't entirely accurate since the mask wasn't usually a seperate piece from the costume (the electric company spidey costume as well). Other than maybe when he gets unmasked in the chinese web episode.

Well, I'm not sure if the mask was a separate piece or not in the pilot film and the various television episodes, but from what I can see in numerous photos online the web printing doesn't line or match up from the bottom/neck portion of the mask, down to the bodysuit. It appears the neck of the mask has a different web pattern from the bodysuit. I haven't watched my tapes in a while now to notice the look of the costume from one episode to the next, but it does appears in this case that there was an attempt by Hasbro to make it as accurate as they could. Which I appreciate.

Is this figure supposed to be in stores at Walmart? I missed the online pre-orders.

Ah nice catch! I wonder why they didn't bother to line up the webs if it was one piece (or maybe multiple pieces stitched together to look like one). You can see below from the the tv movie how he pulls it over to take it off. I assumed they designed it like that to keep it seamless and for the webbing to line up but guess not. Now i have to check out Toei Spidey to see if it's like the Marvel Legends figure.

I don't know about instore availability. I do know that here in Canada, we have a terrible time getting retailer exclusives of any kind. Our Walmart stores here never have any of the endcaps of collectibles or exclusive figures that I see in photos of American stores. For instance, I've never, ever come across any of the NECA Ben Cooper costume figures. So, I was very glad to be able to get hold of this Spider-Man.

Maybe they changed the costume after the pilot movie, and altered the web pattern. I do like the mismatched lines; it gives it more of a realistic feel to the costume.
