Not very expensive either. The 2 packs are $5 and the houses are $16. Hopefully they will make more figures. The only other toy in the set I know of is, I've seen a pic of a Smurfette with a car. Don't think she is out yet though.
    They're that cheap?
    Wow.
From what I saw on ebay, they looked more expensive.

I'd buy 'em at just about any price anyway....especially after such
    good reviews.

I do hope the line doesn't sputter out before HEFTY, GREEDY etc. though.

I'm definitely picking the bulk of these up!

    (thanks again for the info!)

I am curious, what is the difference between the brands and the countries (hong kong, germany, portugal)?
PEYO SCHLEICH ? are some more desirable than others?

Hi all I am new here, I collect smurfs both the Schleich pvcs and these new ones. There are going to be alot more coming out soon, and a windmill playset and more figures - these are all to go along with the upcoming new trilogy of smurf movies coming out soon and the new cartoon series.

I got my wife the Smurfette with house. We'll get some more for the kids. The paint jobs on these are way better than the originals, though I still love my originals.

Smurf collectors usually refer to the Schleich PVCs when discussing Smurf figs.

HK, W.Germany, and Portugal are just different places or companies of release. The ones found most common in the USA is HK or WB (Wallace Berrie). They are all still Schleich.

Peyo is the creator of the Smurfs and all Smurf products will be marked with his name.

For more than 3 decades, Smurf=Schleich. They go hand in hand.

These new toys being released in the USA are not replacing the Scheich figures. They are in addition to, and as a means to open the US market back up to the Smurfs with hopes of bringing them back to the public eye to help make the Smurf movie which seems to be caught in the James Cameron-Spiderman limbo more financially attractive to the studio for release.

(By the by, the Smurf houses, windmills, and Gargamel Castles released by Schleich are heads and shoulders above these JAKKS/Play-a-long playsets. Still love them to pieces, and bought all 3... but just calling them how I sees them!)

http://www.mushroomvillage.com/ : More than just a store, a great informational resource. Like Mego Museum, but for Smurfs complete with checklists and priceguides.

http://www.blueimps.com/ : Another great resource out of the UK. Very active and helpful forum as well. Site owner has THE coolest custom Smurf village EVER assembled. Must be seen to be appreciated.

Lady Zod----wonderful, wonderful post----thanks for updating and educating
those of us that love THE SMURFS yet are too lazy and too removed from
the SMURF CULTURE to know what's really going on.

Personally, I think I'm about to plunge into these "new" (Play Along) SMURFS.

Oh no no no no no no no no, I have to disagree. Althought the new ones are very nice and seem to have a whole line coming out, see - Smurf Forum, Smurfs Forum, Smurfy Forum - the new ones are mass produced, machine made and painted modern toys. The older ones by Schleich are to this day still HAND painted with love and care.
