New Smurfs figures and Houses and Walmart!

Found the new Play Along (yeah, the same company that made the plush 50th anniversary Smurf) Smurfs at Wallyworld last night. There's 3 houses (Papa, Smurfette and Smurf), 6 figure 2 packs (Smurfette and Poet Smurf, Jokey and Grouchy, Papa and Brainy, Handy with tool bench, Smurfette with vanity mirror and Papa with Lab) and Smurf with Car set.

These are not reissues of Schleich figures and toys These are all new figures with articulation at the neck and shoulders. But they are in scale with the Schleich Smurfs. Now they are a tiny bit taller but not enough to make them out of scale. The sculpts look to be all based on the Hanna Barbara cartoon.

The houses are really nice with opening doors and shutters and come with a lot furniture and accessories. They are different from the Schleich houses and have side hinges so you can open them and put the figures inside. The only little downside to the houses is the Smurf house is a bakery and would have made a lot more sense coming with Greedy other than just a generic Smurf.

The toys are great and this is first time Smurfs have been officially available in the US since the Irwin stuff in the mid 90s.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Yep, I noticed these the other day. The larger plush Smurfs come with a DVD.

Smurfs were available in the US in the early 80's, possibly even the late 70's. I remember buying some at a Hallmark store.

Yes, the Bully and Schleich Smurfs (distributed in the US by companies like Wallace Berrie and Applause) were widely available in the US in the 70s and 80s. But what I was saying was, the last time they were officially sold in the US was in the mid 90s with the Irwin line (when they reissued some Schleichs in new packaging as was well as their new line of Smurfs action figures).

The actual Schleich Smurfs are still not being sold here but at least we are getting the new Play Along figures.

Hey Werewolf, did you know you effin' made my month with this news and these pics?

I'm pretty much of the mind that I was SMART not to buy any of the recent
PVC wave based on the TV show. (I was biding my time to Smurf
my money in just the right way regarding Smurf figures/figurines)

I always wanted figures that looked as good as these---figures that
were based SQUARELY on the TV show.

Tell me---are these Play Along figures as good in person as they look
                            in the pics?

Are there plans to make a HEFTY or GREEDY (or any others)?

                            Thanks again!

Yeah, they really are great little toys.

Not very expensive either. The 2 packs are $5 and the houses are $16. Hopefully they will make more figures. The only other toy in the set I know of is, I've seen a pic of a Smurfette with a car. Don't think she is out yet though.
