The only thing I want is the 12" Ark of the Covenant.
      Not an easy score, apparently...

Funniest quote in a Hasbro IJ related thread ever
(in response to the discontinuation of the IJ line):

I have to admit, that I was really turned off by all the Crystal Skull figures hanging on shelves, my grankids will be staring at all those Shia The Beef dolls at retail. It seemed everywhere I went, you couldn't find a young classic Indy, if the most popular character isn't available, then the line isn't working.

I'm sorry to hear this. I've been collecting the figures and felt they were
getting better. The figures from "The Last Crusade" are actually pretty good.
I was looking forward to getting Short Round and 'Temple Indy'.

The figures have made nice custom fodder for Doc Savage figures I've been
              working on.

Oh well. It looks like there is a curse on Indiana Jones action figures.

NOt to beat a dead horse here.

But it seems multiple people are lamenting not geting the
                TEMPLE OF DOOM figures.

According to the article Brian posted---we ARE getting
that wave figures...which includes SHORT ROUND, MOLA ROM,
"TEMPLE DRESS" WILLIE, "RIPPED SHIRT" INDY and others.

My thoughts are if they only released "GERMAN" INDY, "TUXEDO" INDY,
TOHT, TOHT'S RAVEN BAR GOONS, DIETRICH, SAPITO, BARANCA, KATANGA,
LAO CHE (and his two sons), "CLUB OBI WAN" WILLIE, WU HAN,
GERMAN MECHANIC, DONOVAN, "WHITE SUIT" BELLOQ, "JUNGLE" BELLOQ,
BRODY, KASAN(sp?), CHATTER LAL, and some HOVITOS WARRIORS and
BRITISH SOLDIERS....this line would have been complete.

That seems like a lot--- at about 30 different figures--- but after seeing
hundreds of characters for STAR WARS...well...I don't think asking for about
30-35 more characters is too much to ask for.

If only they coulda marketed them better---it doesn't make sense
                that if---in only in a collector's market---they couldn't succeed with these.

I agree this line sucked dinosaur sized eggs. The sculpts on this site are far better than most that are produced by the major manufacturers. There is no way that should be. I look at the stuff that Hasbro has produced and compare it to stuff like say the Battlestar Galactica line that was out a while back. The nice 12 inch stuff. If a small company can produce a line that looks that good and get the actors to actually back it as well why can't they get a decent action figure out of a guy that makes millions for a damn movie? Now that line was way expensive. I know it was produced by a small company that didn't do 100,000 pieces like Hasbro does so I understand why it was high priced. But it was better. Better than a major toy producer can do. Is it not being done in the same country by basically the same people? The toy companies simply don't care. They know the stores are going to buy anything associated with a major production. Marvel is a guarantee. Even after Hulk, Ironman bounces the market back. So they could parade out Punisher has a slumber party where Frank Castle and his friends sit around and talk about Care Bears or something and Walmart will still sell the exclusive Punisher in 2 piece nighty with monkey slippers and exploding teddy bear because at the mark up the three they sell will still cover the cost of all the stock. So why take the time to do a quality figure? Hey you, yeah the janitor after you scrub the toilet go make me a prototype Indy head and after you clean the lunch room make the one from Temple of Doom. Doesn't matter if it's good just get it done. That's the problem IMO. I remember when toy companies used to ask the customers what they wanted. So why don't they now? There's over 3000 members here alone. There are many action figure sites around. Has any major producer of toys ever logged on to one and said hey were looking for some input from you guys. Cuz obviously we don't know. Hell they wouldn't even have to pay anyone. They'd get at least a thousand ideas they haven't even thought of.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

All I got was the talking 12 inch Indy. I have no interest in the little plastic ones. This line is another reason to hate Shia Lebeouf, his face haunts the toy aisle.

Besides being in a flimsy Indy movie...what's with your and Brian's
                        dislike for Shia?

I don't have "regular TV" and don't see a helluva lotta movies
---has Shia tainted other franchises as well? What's up?

re: The 12 inch figures---I'm fearful of those detail-wise to begin with
---seems to me ya couldn't make a mass marketed large figure that
                        was any great shakes.
---I'd bank on the premium collector's stuff if I ever was to dip into
                        anything over 8 inches.

My take is that 4 inch figures are good for that "they're so compact
that detail doesn't matter as much" philosophy.

The "return" of IJ to this (4 inch) scale has been thrilling for me---and
I'll savor it to the bitter end.

I don't hate TheBeef Hue, I just never understand why toymakers think we'll instantly embrace this new character in the old franchise and make hundreds of peg warming figures. That almost never happens, especially when Lucas is involved.

                            I understand THAT point completely--
                            I wish I could say:
"Yeah but the Skulls movie was a good one...and so..."
                            but I can't. Big down-note right there.

It's funny I just went on youtube to check out Shia in interviews...
I saw both his Kimmel and Letterman appearances...in BOTH
he remarked how much the "Net geeks" "hate him"---of course
he never explained why--- but I just thought after reading your guys'
                            posts---it was interesting.

Having never seen him in a movie, I don't have much to go on but I seem to work for one of the bigger malcontents in the form of Topless Robot.

I think people dislike him because he's getting the spotlight in cool franchises like Indiana Jones and Transformers and people don't feel it's deserved. Totally an outsider opinion, I have no evidence of this.
