Well, maybe that is because the sculpts are terrible: Cate Blanchett looks like a guy, an ugly guy at that.
    Very disappointing.
They probably said: Indiana Jones will sell itself. No need to spend money on sculpts and things like...quality. Just use that those old monkey heads we have left from some Jungle Safari line...

I 've never liked those figures, and audiences seem to agree with me....

There are some good items in the line, but the sculpting was definitely subpar for most of the figures. For whatever reason, Star Wars seems the only license that can sell multiple movie-accurate variants and supporting characters at retail.

        Talk about history repeating itself!

        1. Hasbro (Kenner) get excited about Indy figures (Lucas / Spielberg = toy gold)

        2. Retail sales are flat, nothing like Star Wars.

        3. Cairo Swordsmen sit around as peg-warmers for years.

        4. Short-Round and Willie only make it to prototype stage.

        HELLO 1980's!!

I was all ready to collect the line .... but once I saw them ... the only item I bought was an Indy from Raiders .... but I might go grab one of him with the horse.

I'm bummed but I got what I wanted - lots of germans - the truck, the car and I even bought the jungle cutter. I gotta say though the biggest cause of lack of interest has gotta be the lackluster movie. It had no bang that kids would dig these days. thus no non collector sales. Hasbro had 2 flops to support hulk and indy both with WAY too many linked toys

Paint apps were terrible. Sculpts were terrible. Should have released less Mutts and Indys and more of a mix of characters from all four movies.

Hey, lets face it... had that doofus 4th movie been 1/2 better, maybe we nerds woulda been more excited about the franchise... let's be real for a moment, that's what we are buying here, not memories, not toys... a franchise. The franchise of Indiana Jones is over... it ended on a sour note and if you add toys who's paint ops looked like a blind baboon did them, there isn't much room for surprise.

That's a shame. I was really looking forward to the Temple of Doom stuff. I wanted the Doom figures more than anything in the entire line.

I still think had Hasbro handled the line a little better it would have lasted longer. The first shipments having such poor paint jobs certainly didn't help. Not to mention they shipped just WAY too much at once. Well that and just about everybody loathes Mutt.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I bought Most of the Indiana Jones / Ford Figures . I still only have a Few to get... But I do have about 6to7 of them . But outside of the Ford Figures,.. I had interest in the line, However not enought to buy any other figure.

But lets face it,.. No kid I knew Was even wanting these bought for them. With no Children to support the Line,.. it was only a matter of time, considering not many adult collectors were even buying these,.. Obviously from some of the posts written here.

                      Why this line died....

The paint..the sculpts.....yeah, maybe it contributed...

but that kinda stuff is really secondary in a mass market line like this...
the "not as picky as collectors" mass public aren't as concerned
                      about "paint ops"

the fact remains that to the fact that they were really pushing the
                      Crystal Skull stuff--a so-so movie
that not many wanted toys from---AND the distribution
of the line was horrible from the start.

Meh. It seems EVERY line is badly distributed these days.

                      Such a shame.

And character choice...yeah, they had some good ones...

                      still...

A line like this gets started and there's no chance to even
get a Toht? A German Mechanic? A Katanga?

If they can afford it, they should really look into producing
those characters for exclusive sale online or in comicbook stores etc.

Terrible, terrible handing of a line that could have been great
based on one of the greatest action franchises of all-time.

I'm totally eating my words regarding Crystal Skulls---I had no
idea it had the potential to go over so badly and that that in turn
would affect a cool action figure line so harshly. Oh well.

Yeah I started collecting but the figures were just so so. I agree too many Mutts (Not enough Grail knights) , Bad sculpts, poor paint. Poor choice of figures (Cemetery guard?) Lousy playsets.

Maybe the Bi plane from Raiders or Grail? What about the WWI tank from grail? The flying wing from Raiders? These would have collected War collectors as well as Indy collectors

Actually, according to the article Brian linked---we will be getting
the first TEMPLE OF DOOM figures after all.

                            this ticks me off!

Yes you go to my walmart and there are the same exact figures sitting there as there were when they first set them out. But can I find a Grail Knight? NO, can I find Henry Jones? no!

there has been nothing but shelf warmers sitting there with the next wave nowhere to be found. I hated this game with Star Wars, i didnt think I was going to have to play again with Indiana Jones figures!?

I know, I know, it's all true. But I still had to buy myself the talking Indy today. Sheesh they even made his brown eyes blue.
