I'm a huge fan of view master and have quite a collection, both at home and at my school. I have a list of cool ones too.

Batman 1966, Planet Of The Apes (TV show), Michael Jackson's Thriller, GIJoe Adventure Team, Kung Fu, Emergency, SWAT, Rookies, Chips, Star Trek TNG, Star Trek (animated), SMDM, 1969 Apollo Moon Landing.

I have some of these in talking form too. I love these things!
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Holy Crap, the Bonanza cast giving the finger brought tears of laughter to my eyes!

I also had the Apollo moon landing reels. I'm not sure if NASA took stereographic pictures on the moon or what, but I remember it being fascinating. I wonder where that ended up?

Some parts of the Superman set look like Filmation, but others don't. I've always wondered that myself. They had several "animated"-looking VM reels that never had a cartoon series though (Wonder Woman being one of them).

Oh, and this has been brought up before about the Bonanza reel, but Little Joe is apparently far from it.

That's really interesting. You're right about the GI Joe set, wow, that makes me want the toys.

The Bonanza thing is hilarious. I can't believe those guys did that. That wacky Lorne Greene!

Doctor strange is nice, and the 70's GI joe is a classic.

I forgot to mention ones I was really fond of. The Spidey one taken from the first Doc Ock apparance was a favorite. Ditko in 3-D, trippy stuff. The 66 live-action Batman, and the comic Batman from "The Joker's 5-Way Revenge" were also really cool.

I never had this one, but I remember a Wolfman VM reel set whose cover scared the beejeezus out of me. Looked to be done with puppets too.

Anyone have the big themed canisters of View Master reels? I had the DC one, and I think the Marvel one at some point.

I agree with all choices and their ratings! Fun, fun read and Travolta definitely deserves the #1 lamest viewmaster of all! Makes me want to start collecting these.

I remember enjoying the Batman TV series one, a lot, along with "Emergency" (go figure), Thriller, some of the 3-D one's (I was so little can't remember specifics...stuffed animals or something) and the talking ADAM-12.

I heard something from a viewmaster expert/collector many years ago.

He said, all viewmaster shots are staged on the set just so the VM cameras can catch the 3-D images.

Example, when Omega Glory was being filmed, after the scenes were filmed, they had to go back and do the scene over again in a frozen position.

This was done with EVERTHING live, including movies and TV shows.

                            Thought that was interesting .....

One notable View Master reel is Land of the Giants --- which contains completely different angles than the ones we see on TV.
