SQUIRMLES.. Who had or remember these??

SQUIRMLES.. Who here had or remember these things??
Gosh I loved these things, they were a big part of my growing up in the 70's and I even remember them as being foes or aliens for my Megos and Gi-Joes.

These were the best bubble gum machine toys ever!!

I used to bug my mom for a quarter all time when we went to Kmart.
I have no idea why I started to thinkn about these crazy things again, but I did and I wanted to see if they where what I rememered. They were and I'll have to get some.
I had no idea they were still around.
So who else had these growing up?

I remember those! I loved them and I probably would still play with them if they had them around...

I used to get them from gum machines but for some reason I think I remember buying them carded encased in a bubble too.

Hmmm. It looks likes I missed those. They look like fun, though.

The official Squirmle (sp?) was sold in store with packaging, etc. But there were also the gumball machine ones that tended to shed and didn't last very long. I remember seeing some guy doing a demo on the "Wonderama" show and thinking "I've gotta have one." I could never make it look real and would always tangle up my fishing line.
                  It's all good!

This is one of those toy's I always remembered having and could never come up with the name. Didn't think I would ever see one again! Seems I remember them packaged individually on a card when I got one.

I only knew of them from the gumball machines. I never knew they actually came carded.
I do remember they shed and got trashed after awhile.
Does any one know if the gumball ones where different then the carded ones?
I too could never get them to work like it said, but hey, most things like this never did.
I'm glad people remember these, they were a big part of my growing up.

Yeah, I remember the commercials for the real ones and I wanted one until my brother told me it was just a camera trick and it really couldn't do that. Then I got a fake one out of the gum machine and I was gonna prove him wrong. After a whole afternoon of practice, I was convinced he was right.

I used to get them as stocking stuffers at Christmas.

They're still around because I remember one of my kids had one that he received in his birthday goodie bag. I think I had more fun with it than he did.
