How rare/HTF is the Remco 3 3/4 Mini Monsterizer?

    Hello,

New to the forum, have lurked off and on, this is my first post. I'm looking to start a collection of Remco Mini Monsters to go along with my toy collection. I mainly collect MOC, MISB... But occasionally I will buy something MIB if the condition is good.

I've read that this is a very rare, scarce item. I've searched them on Ebay for awhile, but find nothing (it always turns my search from "monsterizer" to "moisturizer"). Does anybody know how rare/scarce? Idea of production numbers? I searched the AFA population report but didn't turn up anything. Are there known MISB/AFA graded examples out there?

I'm just trying to guage an idea of how much I'd have to spend, and how hard it would be for me to find something complete, in box... Preferably sealed, but mint, complete, with box at the least. Thanks.

Any information on the mini monster line in general is welcome, too. There doesn't seem to be much out there.

The piece that I really remember most from childhood, though, is that monsterizer, and I'm having a hard time finding any information whatsoever on it.

I'm looking for the Mini Monsterizer too...have been for years.
As far as cost goes, when it eventually turns up I'm buying it, no matter how much it costs because I may not find another one.
      It's that rare.

Thank you so much for the response.

Really? Wow. I've been looking, somewhat nonchalantly, for about a year or so now. Mainly just on Ebay. Whenever I search it, nothing, and I mean nothing comes back. A look at completed listings only returns two loose examples in the past year. One for the 9" line that sold for 180, and one for the 3 3/4 that sold for 70. Neither came with a box, and neither were complete. Also, as I said in my first post, when I search "monsterizer", it always wants to change it to "moisturizer", so I'm guessing that's a result of it not being something that's regularly bought and sold there.

Does anybody know why they're are so hard to come by? Does anybody have a contents list of a complete one to go on?

I have no idea why they're so hard to find...they were obviously made in much smaller quantities than the Playcase playset.
I'm looking for a MIB example, box condition not important as long as the toy is mint, complete and with unapplied stickers. If and when one like that shows up on Ebay, I'd be willing to spend $750-1000.

Interesting. So, they came with unapplied stickers, so I'm assuming there should be a sticker sheet present? I'm guessing an instruction sheet as well?

Sorry for all the questions, but like the item itself, information on it seems to be scarce. I'm just trying to figure out what I'm looking for in trying to find a complete one.

I have a boxed one got it for around $250 but this was 8 plus years ago and I've really never paid much attention after that.

Mine has clearly been opened, there only appears to be one sticker on the thing. The one on the box is way different.

Let me see if I can help.

You have two sets - Non-Glow and Glow. Non-Glow was first. Non-Glow Creature and Wolf Man are the hardest to find. The capes for Drac and Phantom are a pain, with the difference being the red lining in Drac's.

The playsets are the same except the Glow series has a "GITD" sticker on the front.

The Monsterizer came at the tail end of the line and was the last item released. I've only seen/owned GITD versions. I don't think they made a non-Glow because of the product timing.

Carded figures use to be 20/30 for the common four. A loose set of GITD was around 60. The playset was around 30 for a very good conditioned one. The last Monsterizer I saw went for 150ish, loose. I passed on a boxed one about 2-3 years ago for around the same. Most are missing a piece or two, like the straps or battery compartment.

Prices have gone insane for some reason.

EDIT: One sticker sheet. One instruction sheet. Also have to watch for battery corrosion on loose ones. Boxes were very flimsy, IIRC.

Fantastic information, guys. I really, really appreciate it!

Keep it coming, if you've got it.

Thank you so much, this is great info. Love this line. Never owned it as a kid, but remember it well. Time to scratch that itch.

The Remco Mini Monsters have three series. First series is the Non Glow, the Second series with the glow in the dark in the upper left hand corner, and the third series is the Starburst series. This is the Glow flame on the front of the card behind the bubble. This was done to help kids know the mini monsters would glow in the dark and sell!

I've actually seen the Non-glow creatures and wolf man sell more frequently then the starburst series (Creature, Mummy, and Wolfman)

I have seen a Rare Mailer Mini Monsterizer just once. It was years ago and someone did a BIN of $75.00

Awesome looking collection! You mentioned the "mailer" version. Are there multiple variations of the mini monsterizer, and if so, how do you tell?

no, the monsterizer is the same boxed or as the catalog mailer. Only difference is you don't get the store box, you just get the brown catalog box

You can see my three mini remco monsters in the catalog mailer box in the pictures. Same thing.
