At MegoMeet this year, Berto was kind enough to give me a good deal on some rather battered, incomplete Mattel giant Shogun Warriors. One was Daimos - one of the last in the line and the one that is somewhat less common than the others. I figured I'd try my hand at restoring him. It's always been helpful for me to get junked versions of pieces I normally couldn't afford, and restore them to what would be perfectly display-worthy for me.
After a couple weeks of work stripping paint & decals, making my own decals, touching up paint and finding reproduction parts, Daimos is complete!
Before.... and after!

Some previous owner had spray painted his red legs & arms... red. The leg decals were ruined by the paint, and there was overspray on his body. He was also stabbed numerous times all over with what looked to be an ice pick. His head paint was worn in spots. He was filthy. His firing fist and leg missiles were gone, and the internal trigger in his shooting forearm was broken.
EPS files for his decals came from the "MachinderShop" Yahoo group. I printed them up on glossy brochure stock and coated them with American craft glossy spray. The metallic ones aren't metallic, but they're shiny enough to look like it. Working, color-correct Leg Missile recasts came from Derik of Shogun Plastics https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shogu...587493?fref=ts and a color-matched roto-cast resin shooting fists came from Wes Bourn at Bourn Again Creations http://teambac.com/shogun_warriors/shogun_warriors.html
Up later is a Dragun I got at a yard sale down the street from me...
