    Collecting Superman: Kryptonite Rock

Released in 1977, these were turning up in unopened display cases in the Toy Shop days...

I remember the comic ads for those. My 4-year old mind wondered why anyone would want to hurt Superman...

      Love the box art though.

I should point out that Steve posts some great Superman stuff every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I really enjoy seeing all of the great and varied things he shares. If you're not checking it out, you should!

I always thought it was funny how something poisonous to Superman always depicts him standing strong on the box artwork. I would have to say if Superman was ever going to re-gift something, this would be it. But this kind of toy is always cool to see. That would be a nice piece in anyone's collection.

I've seen that 100 times but I don't think I've ever seen what the rock looked like before.

There is a cool mini kit available at bookstores that features a miniature display of Kryptonite. It lights up and looks like a miniature version of the one DCD released years ago.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

I remember buying that back in 1977. I don't have the box but I still have the 2 Kryptonite rocks.

Yep. I picked one up in the late 80's/early 90's for, like, 10 bucks or less...it's still one of my favorite possessions.

Seems like a great idea for getting rid of land fill.

I had a heck of a time convincing my parents to buy me one when I was a kid.

In later childhood years, we'd stop at flea markets and I'd buy those huge chunks of glass "rocks" for next to nothing. Red and green were popular for Superman play. My son did the same thing, and still has Green and Red K on display in his room.

When I saw Superman The Movie in the theater they were selling these in the lobby. Mom was cool and bought one for me. I loved glow in the dark stuff when I was a kid...had a lot of fun with this stupid rock!
