Super 7 issue Alien "Reaction" Catalogs

It's sickening to hear somebody grumbling about price of these. This is pretty boutique and I know Super 7 had to jump through hurdles to get these made. When you consider the tooling, the license itself and the fact that it's over all audience is likely a tenth of any 3 3/4" figure hanging at Target, the only sticker shock I had was I thought it would be more.

I don't really like the Alien movies but I'm voting with my dollar and ordering a set of these. I want more properties handled this way.

Oh yeah, the story behind making these happen, which I'm sure Super 7 will tell as part of the marketing, is the toy lover's dream done right. There's a whole community of toy creators making limited edition action figures in this scale - the scale THEY are nolstalgic about (as well as He-Man). Most so far have been kit-bashed, like Sucklord, but a number of other cats - Killerbootleg, Starkaws, Healymade, and Sucklord too - are begining to create original sculpts. Killer is about to release an action figure of the frog like Golum from the animated Hobbit! Pretty crazy stuff.

The price is an attempt at mass market. S7 is still working at bringing the Jumbo Machiner / Shogun Warrior scale back, and in addiion to the Alien glasses they've announced a Transformers set. I'd love it if the ReAction series goes over huge and we really begin to see an uptick in new 3&3/4, and I couldn't be happier about the Alien figures.

Personally I think the price is right on target, and had it been $24.99 I would still think it was fair. What's ironic is that most of the complaining about the high price is coming from collectors of Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles merchandise.

I'm not into Alien, but if a small company like this could get DC to go for making the unproduced figures from Super Powers series 4 in the correct style and scale, you better believe I'd pay $20 a pop for them!

I am 100% on board for some dark crystal. That was the first thing tat popped into my head after S7 announced the Alien goodness.

I got one of these today and it's really cool! Super 7 is doing an outstanding job of capturing the classic Kenner vibe with this line.
