Even if they are photocopies, they could have originated at Kenner. During the initial release of the figure, a lot of stores were dealing with returns, because the kids and their parents weren't reading the instructions on how to raise the arm, and thinking the toy was broken if the arm popped off. Kenner sent out info packets to stores, so they could explain to the customers that their toy was just fine.

that could be very likely, because like I said, these aren't copied on normal paper. The paper looks to be old and I compared these to other toy line instructions and the paper looks very similar to other Kenner Instructions (I took pictures and compared the paper to my Vintage Indy toy instructions)

Surprised no one's brought up the TTP stuff. I have 2 of the Steve Austin tower pump/vehicles(one in an APEX case & the other still with the original box) and three Jamie Sommers rider figures sitting up on the "bionic collection bookcase".

Those are cool... I don't think I've even seen a Jamie TTP in person.

The Jamie rider figures are cool, but kind of creepy looking. Thinking about doing repaints on a couple of them. First one would be based on Jamie's running suit from 'Welcome Home, Jamie', the second would be in the style of Dynamite's The Bionic Woman comic, and the third would be a Kate Mason custom.

Thought I would resurect this cool thread.

This week I manged to score an Aldens Exclusive SMDM Air Force uniform. I know we briefly touched on it earlier in thread, but does anyone have any solid info on this outfit?

Obviously Aldens was like a JC Penny's with department stores around the country. Does anyone know the dates that this Steve Austin was available?

Also like the other member on this thread mine also comes with the black Maskatron version running shoes. Do we know if these are the actual shoes that came with this outfit?

How rare is the outfit? I can only find the photos on this thread and one other on line.

I will post photos once it arrives (hopefully tomarrow).

I've had different collectors tell me that it came with dress shoes... another told me no shoes, just the hat. I think until we see a packaged sample, or a good catalog pic, we won't know for sure. Congrats on the find... it's a beaut!

                  Mightymegs:

In my posting regarding the Aldens outfit on this forum I listed some info I obtained from a fromer Kenner Desginer who worked the SMDM line from begining to end. The team he worked on did most of the packaging art, and he was lead on the individual accessory packs.

He didn't have a ton of "specific" info about this outfit (ie: type of shoes, or undershirt etc) but he did confirm that it was called "the pilot" , desgined by Kenner, made in Hong Kong (which matches both of our tags) and was a store exclusive in the U.S.. Also he said that Kenner contracted with other companies for the overseas market to create clothing, and other packaging exclusives.

More info than we had, but still there is a lot to determine. Fun though!

                    Awesome info!
Sometimes it's like being Indiana Jones, trying to uncover some of the history of these toys...

I'd cough up a lung for that running suit and those sneakers. Then again, my lungs aren't worth much these days.
