        Funny Hot Wheels story...

Today was "sharing day" at my presechool. I have some sections of track there, and there's a whole bucket of Hot Wheels and various other cars. Today, I brought some of my Hot Wheels. I set up the track sections and taped them to the top of a child's chair. I put a block in the middle in the room and told the kids to see if their cars were fast enough to reach the block. They had such fun seeing which cars were faster and hitting the "mark". Even the shyest were jumping around and cheering 'cos their cars touched or past the block. They picked out which of my cars would be the fastest and cheered me on too.

        It was a fun day.

I have to say I am more of a Matchbox kinda girl.

This was my favourite when I was a kid. It turned out to be the predecessor of my favourite of motorcycles I have owned.

I have several huge, tiny, red, purple etc. Red Barons now.

Hot Wheels! There was nothing cooler in 1968 although Johnny Lightning tried. The original hot wheels: sprung suspensions, hot lead-based paint, super fast nylon bearings, long loops of orange track, and the coolest cars, hands down. Still have all of my old ones, including a pierced hood Mustang (woot!). Matchbox were okay and were particularly nice when they had the opening doors but they weren't designed to race. They had much greater variety and detail, but the Hot Wheels were, well, hot! All muscle cards, hot rods, and show cars. Ahh, the good old days.

Matchbox for me. I collected all their military vehicles, both the regular as well as the 'Battle Kings' size.

Loved their red car- transporter, which could hold 5 regular Matchbox cars, a very cool vehicle that I still have.

Their 'Rolamatics' were neat, where forward motion activated some feature in the toy. One of my faves was the safari vehicle, which had a lion in the back that walked around when the car was rolling.. all in a regular sized Matchbox car.

Sometimes a racing car would become my favorite for a while, but more often than not, fire engines or utility vehicles formed the basis for play.

I don't really recall having many Matchbox cars as a kid, so it was mostly Hot Wheels (and the Corgi comic and character cars). I found the Hot Wheels the gold rims went faster.

Hot Wheels. I have always liked the licensed stuff. And in recent years, we've gotten several Batmobiles, the Ecto-1, and Doc Brown's Time Machine.

Granted, Johnny Lightning did the same thing (and better) a decade ago, but you can't beat Hot Wheels for speed, or price.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

I think my favs were Hot Wheels when I was a kid, I collect only Redline related stuff now but I am really digging the Matchbox Superfast. Their are some really sweet vehicles to be had and they are as fast as Redlines.

I was a sucker for things that moved and doors that opened. So, I was mostly Matchbox, but there was much Hot Wheels, Corgi and other brands in there as well.
                            It's all good!

When I was a kid I called all my cars Matchbox cars no matter what brand they actually were.
