Raggedy Ann and Andy are true classics. When I was little I had a Raggedy Ann that had a wind up music box inside her.
Smurfs rule!
Very cool to see that Bionic Woman was so popular too. A lot of people had her as kids.
This is awesome! So many great toys. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

Here's kind of a funny thing. Okay - first off, I didn't have any sisters so I didn't have much opportunity to play with girl's toys growing up. (I had a Cabbage patch doll - don't know if that counts.)
But the thing is, I remember - by way of limited but not infrequent socializing with girls - lots of She-Ra, My Little Pony, and Barbie. And now, whenever I come across the first two, I get really nostalgic for my childhood... even more so than from the "boy toys" I actually played with (*snicker). I think the reason is because I had a steady stream of contact with everything else (including Barbie, indirectly); I started out as a "toy-player-with" and - a few interruptions aside - segued right into "toy collector". I have plenty of adult memories of Star Wars, GI Joe, Super Powers and Ghostbusters, but virtually none of She-Ra or My Little Pony. So when I see them now they're like powerful little time machines. It's like I'm smelling orange groves. ('Nother thing that takes me back.)
Needless to say, I'm a lot more fond of them now than when I was a kid.Last edited by Sandman9580; Sep 29, '10, 3:19 AM.Comment

I never had a Bionic Woman back in the day, but I have one now. She's awesome. Jane West is pretty cool, too.Comment

I spent a huge part of my early childhood with my two female cousins, so I had a fair amount of playtime with "girl toys". They were big into Barbies, so they decided I should get some Ken dolls to play with them. I know I had Malibu Ken, but the one I had that I really thought was cool was the Now Look Ken from 1975. Even then I related more to the long haired dude look, lol. I guess these are kinda tough to come by, I always thought they'd be decent to use for making KISS customs like a Vinnie Vincent doll, since the hair is about right.
I also had a fondness for the TV character dolls like Laverne & Shirley, Lenny & Squiggy, Sonny & Cher, etc. I guess those would be considered to be moreso girl toys than for boys. I've had a Cher with her dressing room playset for a long time now, that my wife has decided is now part of her collection instead
I also remember getting a Monchichi for Xmas when I was about 6 years old, and I thought that was pretty cool at the time. I think it was the theme song from the commercials that hypnotized me!! LOL
My wife still walks around the house from time to time singing this song, I think to drive me crazy!!
