Tried them all out now. All four games are very well done. Centipede is still my favorite of the lot. Always loved that game. I'm a big fan of classic atari arcade games and home systems. Couldn't pass these up. Still hoping the Flashback 2 plus gets a retail release.

    And welcome to the forums.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Be cooler if they gave out copies of ET for Atari, but like the actual cartridges. Lord knows they still have them buried next to Jimmy Hoffa somewhere.

Realistically, what would be the point of that? How many people going to pick up these CDs at Taco Bell would even have working 2600 systems to play the cartridges on? Not many I would gather. Besides the excess ET inventory was destroyed before burial.

Well it was a joke, but honestly I think a lot of people would go get the Atari cartridges for the lulz as opposed to getting the CDs which aren't really retro. Giving out Atari cartridges is the kind of thing that would have all the blogs talking about it and people would go in droves. It's not the content that matters, it's the amusement.

I think it's cool that they're giving out these old games, but you can download most on the net anyway. If you have access to a computer, you don't really need Taco Bell's games. But if they were giving out Atari cartidges? Man, that's just hilarious.

Plus if they used ET, people would go get them because everyone knows the infamous ET Atari story.

I have a (licensed) disc with a ton of Atari ports. It came with this which I got to play centipede the way it's meant to be played.

No, these are completely recoded to add skill levels and other variations. Likewise there's the evolved version of each game on the disc as well.

The x-arcade stuff is nice (I have all of them from doing reviews), but when they say built like a tank they also mean the size of it.

The whole thing was covered by the local newspapers (which I have copies of) during the entire 5 day dumping process. What was dumped there was computer and console hardware, and an assortment of games (Raiders, ET, and several others.) Started on a Friday, there was looting by kids over the weekend and they hired a security guard and came in and poured concrete over everything that Monday/Tuesday. Atari execs interviewed tried to say it was all defective merchandise from the El Passo warehouse, but kids that had raided it said they were coming up with working cartridges of Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, E.T. and Raiders.

The idea of the dump being for millions of E.T. carts is a myth. The idea that there is a dump of Atari merchandise is the fact.
