I'm 45 yrs old. I loved Wacky Wackages when I was a little kid, still do. Anyway, when I was about 12 yrs old I plastered some stickers all over a large recipe box my Mom used to have in the kitchen. many years later, as an adult, I asked her if she still had it & she said she sold it at a Garage Sale a long time ago. Well, about a year or two after that I was walking through an Indoor Flea Market & there it was!! I would NOT have believed it but I had wrote my name on the bottom of it. Has you can imagine I totally HAD to buy it! I asked the Dealer how much he wanted for it & he said, "90 dollars". Yeah, 90 bucks!! It was a total moron greedy price that, out of principle, I refused to pay. Well, I didn't buy it & that sort of broke my heart a little bit, ha! But, it was a very surreal experience.

Man, that sucks that you didn't buy it, but $90 is a lot to ask for it.

Did he know it was yours (or your moms) when you were a kid?

I was always big on Wacky Packs. We used to trade them while riding on the school bus. I also got a few from a member recently and am passing them on to my kids.

However, step back a few years earlier to 1973-1976ish. Every Friday night, my parents used to stop at this bookstore/newsstand - the kind that had coverless comics & paperbacks. I'd occasionally get a candy grab bag on the way out, complete with candy, gum & stickers. I remember getting a bumper sticker about streaking and having no idea what it meant.

Anyway, I amassed a small collection of Marvel stickers; didn't know many of the characters. I stuck them on this little wooden bookcase (painted green) in my room. Last time I was home, I took a look at it, and my stickers are still there. I have to keep it, but I don't know where it will go. I kind of wish I hadn't stuck them, but then again the bookcase feels like the 'right' place for the stickers to be after all of these years.

I love these little works of art! I have a lot of them and would enjoy trading if anyone else has some. Before I received enough MM cards to trade, I sent out a some wackys to a few members as "thank you" gifts (hope they enjoyed them!) I hold doubles to trade with but I have a few other extras that I'd be happy to share with you guys (and gals). PM me, JOHN

I got hooked on Wackys in 1973, my mom would always buy me a pack at the drug store or wherever we found them on the counter. She still wears the Wacky Packages apron I bought her for Mother's Day when I was in grade school. And I still wish I had bought the second one that was available back then, so we could have a set to wear together now.....

Wackys started the collector fever in me, and around 1976 I started on non-sports cards like Star Trek and Star Wars, and then Mego Trek figures and toys, then Star Wars, Buck Rogers, etc. I still have most of the stuff from when I was a kid, including my Wackys.

I've got all the "All New Series" and Flashback Wackys from the last few years. In fact, I donated some sets here for a fund raiser - hope whoever got them enjoyed them! And I'm happy to help anyone here if I can.

I found this forum after reading about Mego Museum cards in Non-Sport Update a couple of years ago. Collecting those has been tough, and I doubt I'll ever finish the set. But, trading cards of action figures and toys are too perfect a blend for me to totally give up. Aside from the MM cards, I'm also working on trading cards that were inserted into Playmates Star Trek figures in the 1990's. Think I've got 4 to go, and I have lots of extras to trade, too.

In another two weeks or so, Topps Online will be selling new Wackys called "Old School" - they are in the simpler style of the original Wackys from the 70's, and they parody products and packaging from the 70's. It's a small print run, and they won't be available at Target or Walmart like the recent sets were. Topps Online will just be selling full boxes directly.

Also check out LTL PRINTS >> PREMIUM WALL GRAPHICS - these things are incredible! Stick them to the wall and they look like they're painted on. Then peel them off and the wall shows no trace that they were there, and you can re-stick the print!

I had quite a collection of these as a kid. I had forgotten about them until just now.
Great post! They were so cool!

Here are just a few examples:

Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"

So, this discussion inspired me to see what Wacky Packs I could snag off of ebay for my kids. I settled on the new Flashback sets #s 1 & 2. Each set has 72 stickers, and I was able to get 'em for under $4 each.

The seller sent me an amused e-mail: my total was $11.42, but when he took out shipping, ebay & PayPal fees, he's left with $3.17. Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed.

Your kids might get an even bigger kick out of the 'All New Series', aka ANS sets 1 to 6, since they parody current products, in the packaging they're familiar with. PM me your address, I'll send some to you.
