I did not recall that the Golden Girl had a palace till this year. Wish I had noticed it early, this would look so good as an Amazon Castle.

I was not into the cartoon at all, but The Toys of the Masters of the Universe really helped me embrace and appreciate the line. Though I'm a huge Horde fan of Horde toys and will always love original Hordak most.

I'm satisfied with the Origins releases and even customized 40th She-Ra a bit--I have a classics Kowl that goes well with her, too. But the original character designs grab me.

This is a good thread, thanks for sharing your collection as always.

Regarding Golden Girl, I recall really liking seeing those figures on the shelves in the '80s.. I wish someone would give them a new Rulers of the Sun treatment.

I'm interested in your comment about villainesses and Entrapta. How was Double Trouble marketed--I thought se was a spy/foe?

A very iconic and beloved toy. It's ridiculous there hasn't been a Swift Wind in Origins yet. Hopefully this year.
Let's hope. It would offset Bow looking like the 'toon.

It looks really nice from the outside but there was not a lot on the inside. I remember using it for the Royal Palace of Eternia. Wished I had kept it.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Double Trouble was a spy for the Great Rebelion. In the story bible she was Glimmer's cousin. A very underused character. Didn't appear in the cartoon and only one mini comic appearance, The Adventure of the Blue Diamond, where she was sent to spy on Catra.

Bow and Glimmer from the 1985 series. Two of the more popular and important characters of The Great Rebellion.

                  sherabg.jpg

Give Bow a mustache and take away his headband and he is probably the most on model to the cartoon out of the entire POP line. Bow's action feature is there is a little button on his back to make it look like the heart on his armor is beating for She-Ra when you push it. I forgot to mention most POP figures have the same spring waist punch of MOTU figures. Bow is one of the few of them that doesn't because of the heart beating action.

Glimmer has this amazing mountain of poofy tightly curled hair which can turn into a real mess on loose figures. Glimmer's hair can range in color from pink to pale lavender. Glimmer's unique action feature is her staff and crown glows in the dark.

Mermista from the 1986 series of POP.

                    sheramist.jpg

Mermista without and with factory pigtails. Mermista was one of those figures which for some reason came with really elaborate braids or pigtails. Which they didn't have in card art, mini comics, commercials, catalogue photos or cartoon. So, I always took them out as a kid. Mermista's action feature was a removable fabric mermaid tail and water squirting seashell. Fill the shell with water, place it in the hole in her back and it would spray water out of her necklace when the shell was squeezed.

                      1987 series Royal Swift Wind.

                      sherarsw.jpg

This one is frustratingly hard to get. Which is a shame because it is a beautiful looking toy and the closest the vintage line got to a cartoon colored Swifty.

I'm a little late with this thread, but thank you for this. I know you have considerable expertise on the line. I liked the idea of the line--I had always loved Teela and was excited at the idea of these women warriors, but my allowance only went so far, and my "collecting" then stayed limited to just a few lines. I very much wanted to watch the cartoon, but, oddly, the station we had carrying He-Man didn't pick up She-Ra. I'm in a rural area, and we had limited numbers of stations (this was pre-cable for my family), and so a station just out of range picked up She-Ra, and I only ever saw the Secret of the Sword and the Christmas special.

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

I love that movie. Saw it in the theater with my mom and I still watch the Christmas special every year. Skeletor is awesome in that.

I had nearly forgotten my Mom took me to see Secret of the Sword as well. Thanks for unlocking that memory!

Besides all the toys in the Mattel POP line there were a huge amount of She-Ra licensed merch. Clocks, radios, bed sheets, Ben Cooper Halloween costumes, Colorforms, story books, etc. She-Ra was very popular. She-Ra even got the iconic soaky treatment with this lovely bubble bath container.

BTW, do they even make Soakys anymore? I don't think I've seen any since maybe the 90s or early 2000s.
