Oh I had those giant insect ones. Well the praying mantis one anyway.
Those were re-released at least once since then. I have a couple of the re-releases. They are cool. Still haven't got around to actually building them. I usually end up waiting so long that I don't want to build them because they are now out of production and the prices have gone up as a collectible! I have like 6 boxes full of 1/25 car models like that.

Oh and who doesn't think they got the idea for that SMDM busting through the brick wall from the Aurora Superman kit??

The British versions were a tad more colorful.

Geez, Lee looks like he woke up face down in the gutter of the Hooters parking lot that morning, and had to catch a City bus to make the photo shoot in time!!!

Those totally rock! The irony; when they first came out the Mantis was the rare one, since the reissue a few years back it's the Wasp that's rare. (It didn't get reissued 'cos the molds had tanked.) I got a set and I'm definitely building them. (Actually, painting them now, they're already built.)

I've got a lotta nostalgic love for these kits. I have very fond memories of playing with these kits at a friends house when I was probably 7 or 8 years old.

I have all 5 of these kits and one day when I finish them all (I have 3 of the 5 done), I'll put up a webpage about them. To me these represent a time when plastic kits were at a peak and model building was still fun. As an adult modeler, I've had to resist the urge to augment the builds with landscaping, etc. and just build them 'out of the box'.

I be missing the biker right now. None of the others are built yet. I had all 4 when I was a kid and don't really remember whatever happened to them. Probably sold at a yard sale before we moved again I'd guess. Always thought they wee pretty cool and am glad to have them back.

I also had all the Gigantics back then too. Only have the Mantis reissue I think now.

There used to be a really comprehensive Aurora Monster Models site but I think it closed down as I have been unable to find it. Yeah, the 70's were the BOMB for model-building.

This is the art from the cover of a Charlton comic issue. Reminds me of evil rider, or vice versa.

Probably Pelle's old site. Been gone for a few years now.

This one isn't too bad though.

Lots of catalogs and stuff like that.

And Cultman has lots of pretty pictures to look at.

For some reason, I was never interested in this line of kits.
I got a bunch of almost complete loose kits a while back in a big lot that I purchased (mainly for the prehistoric scenes)
I ended up selling it all off as a lot for a decent price.
The only thing I kept was the base, and the alligator from the one kit.
I think it has possibilities for some kind of dio or scratch-built project.
