Sure looks like it.

I think the figure itself was a done design, but the clothes are prototypes(hand made?). The shirt is all funky, with an extra large collar, and string ties around the bottom.

If you look closely at the box photos of the Bionic Transport and Repair Station, you'll see that same prototype figure with the drawstrings on the shirt, etc.

The Steve Austin figure had to be one of the best likenesses up to that point in toy history. You could look at it and nothing else and tell who it was.

Ya know its ironic that they opted to go with the elastic in the pants instead of the drawstring; now almost 35 years later, the elastic in many SMDM dolls has destintegrated. The draw string would have lasted longer!

Cool commercial...good thing they didnt show it to kids though. He may have been Bionic, but the action figure itself was pretty flimsy construction wise!!
