    Hiya T!K

"<I always thought making Boba basically a giant 3-3/4" figure was pretty lame.>"

Boba Fett is NOT a giant 3 3/4 figure. If you are referring to articulation. He was fully jointed and one of the most AWESOME 12 inchers available at that time. He had cloth goods and so many accessories he still commands good coin if they are all present.

Vader may not have had ball joints or elbow/knee articulation, but he had a fantastic cloth cape and the best looking lightsaber ever.

The Stormtrooper on the other hand, is a giant version of the small line. He does have a holster tho.

Admittedly, it would have been nice if Kenner had used something other than the fashion doll bodies for the humans. The rubbery arms/legs, and lack of elbow/knee joints seems odd when compared to the AT joes, but then the 12" world was shrinking (pun intended) dramatically at the time.

the droids were great sculps and big sellers in the line. As for the ? of IG-88. I think the idea at the time was to see if Kenner could hit the robot collectors as well as the doll collectorsl. Makes a good theory anyway and he is an impressive towering figure at 15" tall with two guns in hand and a bandolier full of bombs.

    I kindof like this line.

btw kirk: If you want to see a giant blowup of 3 3/4 scale, check out the Mexican lili ledy R2-D2. It is literally a blow up of the small scale figure. It messes with your eyes.

93? well maybe the bodies I guess, cause the film was released in 99 so they are probably 99-00

The IG-88 is definitely the rarest and the only one I never had

        Yeah, Fett is fully articulated.
Mine is even a bit too loose. He's constantly falling into Sarlacc pits....

And Vader is really cool. I was the envy of all the kids!

I got a Jawa when some toy stre was going out of biz in the early eighties. i bought a Darth vader Tie fighter. it was broken. i took it back and they were only doing exchanges and the only thing starwars left was the big jawa. i had him in pristine condition for the next decade. then a roommates puppy gnawed the gun and gun hand.
then, after realizing he would never be displayed or joined by his friends, i sold him a year ago.

i started buying up the 90's 12 inchers only to box them up last month for sale (i'll bring them to mego meet so you can properly ignore them)

I'm guessing the body says 98 (when it would have been lisenced) and just looks like 93.

Are we talking about the same figure ?
Classic Star Wars 12" from the 70's ?

My Bobba did NOT have real cloth clothing.
                  His clothes were moulded on.
He basically was like the Vader figure of the same line.

That could not be more appropriate though. Remember Dave Prowse was Welsh. You got the right guy.

I think by "cloth goods", he just meant the cape. That was cloth, but you are right, the rest of his clothes are molded on.

As a kid, I had a Boba and a Chewie. The 12" Boba was one of my favourite figures. But no other kids I knew had any 12 inch SW. They just weren't popular and they were quite expensive. I remember here in Canada, Boba sold for close to $25 in some stores.

I unfortunately no longer have my childhood ones, but over the last few years I've been slowly building a collection of 12" SW. I sold off my small vintage figures and accessories years ago and have no desire to collect them again, but I really want to put together a set of boxed 12" ones. So far I have Luke, Leia, Chewie, C3P0, Stormtrooper and Jawa (the latter two have kind of poor condition boxes though). I have to work on completing my collection of these, and the 12" Lili Ledy Star Wars figures, and that will probably be it for vintage SW toys for me.

                          Hiya t1k,

I think I see what you are saying now. The bodies were plastic and did not have a cloth jumper. Cloth goods were the cape and the wookie braids. Your current complaint lies with the fact that the costume was molded rather than cloth goods on a doll. Judging by the price point of modern-era attempts, I think Kenner took the appropriate path. If Vader had the articulation the later Boba Fett did - wow.

Whether or not you like him, the big Boba was nothing like Kenners 3 3/4 line.

I have just added R2D2 and Darth Vader to my tally thanks to a couple of wins on Ebay Just 7 more to go now.

Note to self ..... Do not get too carried away with this - take it steady.

I have no idea why Kenner gave Boba Fett a "bionic" eye like the Six Million Dollar Man. Maybe they were going to have him as a bad guy for him?

I pieced together a boxed set in about 3 months, first 6 in hidden auctions then added the rest... Of course when I got them all I had to sell them, it's all about the hunt
