Hiya T!K
"<I always thought making Boba basically a giant 3-3/4" figure was pretty lame.>"
Boba Fett is NOT a giant 3 3/4 figure. If you are referring to articulation. He was fully jointed and one of the most AWESOME 12 inchers available at that time. He had cloth goods and so many accessories he still commands good coin if they are all present.
Vader may not have had ball joints or elbow/knee articulation, but he had a fantastic cloth cape and the best looking lightsaber ever.
The Stormtrooper on the other hand, is a giant version of the small line. He does have a holster tho.
Admittedly, it would have been nice if Kenner had used something other than the fashion doll bodies for the humans. The rubbery arms/legs, and lack of elbow/knee joints seems odd when compared to the AT joes, but then the 12" world was shrinking (pun intended) dramatically at the time.
the droids were great sculps and big sellers in the line. As for the ? of IG-88. I think the idea at the time was to see if Kenner could hit the robot collectors as well as the doll collectorsl. Makes a good theory anyway and he is an impressive towering figure at 15" tall with two guns in hand and a bandolier full of bombs.
I kindof like this line.

btw kirk: If you want to see a giant blowup of 3 3/4 scale, check out the Mexican lili ledy R2-D2. It is literally a blow up of the small scale figure. It messes with your eyes.
