    Hmmmm....

Never had one as a kid, never really liked him. BUT: a while back I got a Mego scaled Bulletman head and helmet from Gman, made an 8" once and have developed a weird fixation with him. He's currently one of my favourite customs.

I didn't love him but thought he looked enough like Gus Grissolm to make him a mercury astronaut.; eventually he became the victim of my own custom Adventure of GiJOE - Launch Pad Peril ( Gasoline and a mercury capsule should not be allowed in the hands of an 8 year old but hey it was the 70's)

This is one figure that I always wanted but never managed to get. I still don't have one!

Bulletman was the only actual 12" Joe figure I ever owned as a kid. I remember ordering him from the Sears Or Penneys catalog. My mom had him in the car when she picked me up from school one day (I think she picked him up at the catalog pickup desk at that store). I recall being very excited to get him and I have a pretty good memory of the very plain mailer box he came in, but I have no memory of actually playing with him much!

I have a Bulletman in pretty decent shape thanks to Ebay. I'd love to find a good repro of that mailer box to go with him.

the Joe con a few years ago paid tribute the the much maligned Bulletman

PERSONALLY I hated him then and I HATE him now

he and mike power should join the intruder in the dungeon along with GIJOE Extreme

I've never owned Bulletman, but would love to have one eventually. I don't recall ever seeing one in person back in the day. I was a big fan of the Adventure Team years and I loved Mike Power, so I'm sure I would've loved Bulletman as well if I'd ever seen one.

                  In pieces

Bulletman was a great toy! Classic for sure! Mine is in pieces though. Who restrings them here? And for how much?

                  Thanks!!

I had a Bulletman as a kid, it was by far one of my favorite toys I ever owned. I too thought he resembled UltraMan, so that made him that much cooler in my mind. I found him one day at a local True Value store in 1976 I think, while shopping with my Dad. I played with that toy so much, man. I still don't own one as an adult collector, and it's definitely a grail piece for me. Glad to see him get some attention.

It's really easy to restring your Bullet Man (which is just a muscle body Joe). You can do it yourself with elastic cloth banding from the sewing store (about 1/8th inch wide). Wrap the band around the elbow post, work both ends up and THROUGH the upper arm (attach the ends to a semi stiff thin wire to accomplish this), then work both ends of band through shoulder hole and out through the neck, where you string them up through the neck post and tie them off so they don't slip back through (as there isn't much room in Joe's head, this needs to be a small knot, or knot around small metal wire to it doesn't slip back through neck post). Do the same with the other arm and your Joe is presentable again. This is the budget way to do it.

The best way is to buy a restring kit from Cotswold Collectables:
                        http://www.gijoeelite.com/f_itemPart...rPart=GIEA-79R

If you want to pay someone to do it, Club Hair for Joe does it (they als repaint, reflock, etc):
Repair Services - ClubHair for GI Joe

There's also a guy on eBay who does it who is well known in the Joe community:
                        http://myworld.ebay.com/apbjoe1/

But it's really easy to do yourself with elastic banding (though not ideal results, but good enough for display), or with the restring Kit (which yields the best results, posability). It's best to have some modeling experience if you use the kit though as you have to pry apart the upper arms and torso and then glue them back together, and you have to do this gently.
