I had one too and loved it. it was called the Apollo Space Rocket. Cheaply made but cool.
Here's a pic of a packaged one.

It's cool that such a simple, cheap toy that many would've guessed long forgotten, in fact gave so many of us alot of fun and joyful memoriesComment

All right, after kinostadt was so good to provide a picture and the name of the rocket, I came across more pictures of it. Here they are:
And here is the link to the website page that I found the pictures on. It provides even more information. If this guy is correct, this toy was produced for at least a decade.
Merry Christmas!

I remember something about the astronauts being similar to that and now that you mention it, I remember the sections being different colors. What say you, Spotter (or anyone else)?
As far as the size of it goes, I don't know. When you're a little kid everything seems a lot bigger.

From the webiste where I found the pictures:
"Capsule rear detail shows a Lunar Module
with landing gear retracted.
Older style molded in white plastic,
newer style in chrome color."
You know, I can't remember if the rear/botton of my Capsule had a "chrome" or was the plain white molded plastic. Do any of you remember having the chrome bottom on yours? It looks like the astronauts were molded in, at least, white and red.
