Thanks, I agree that the first issue Mazinga is much cooler.I remember a friend getting the later version for Christmas a year later, with the chest decal and less missiles, and we both thought he got ripped off.
On a side note, we just bought a new camera and I'm looking at my picture and wondering why the reds look so splotchy (on Mazinga's chest "V" and Dragun). It was taken in low light conditions, my office/toyroom isn't too bright, and I used a flash. I wonder why the reds look strange? Any camera experts here?Comment

their little brothers
I had friends that had the tall one shoguns but, myself I had the medal 4" ones, (6 total). By the way, does any one know a site that show the varies Shogun Warriors and gives their names. Except for Combata, thanks to Marvel Shogun Warrior Comic Book, the rest of my 5 are unknown.Mego Nudists Fish Nude Show Off your Rod.Comment

This site is a good start, especially to find out what names Mattel gave the robots (which often differed from the original Japanese names).

Thanks for the info.
I stumbled across the information on Palitoy's site Plaid Stallions - A 70s pop culture site :Toys and Funky Polyester Fashion : Seventies . Mine are the 3 inch type. I have the first 6 of the total 10 pictured. Bought all six at the Bi-Mart in Springfield, OR. I may look for the last four. From what I can read on listings, I have:
1. Dragun
2. Mazinga
3. Gaiking
4. Poseidon
5. Great Mazinga
6. CombatraMego Nudists Fish Nude Show Off your Rod.Comment

You shouldn't have too much trouble finding the others. Danguard Ace, 17 & Leopaldan (Spiderman's own giant robot!) are a bit rarer, but surface regularly and if you don't mind a less-than-perfect sample you should be OK. Grandizer is rather common as well (I've probably had no less than 8 pass through my collection), but popular in Europe where his show aired to a legion of little fans as GOLDRAKE.
Story about the Grandizer: I used to keep one in my jacket pocket and mess with it when I was bored in traffic or as a conversation prompt ("Ever have any of these? I'm always looking for 'em..."). When my future wife & I were dating, she remembered her brother having some, which she had played with as well. So I just gave it to her to keep. Later, she was absently toying with it and a mutual friend of ours saw it in her possession. He said "Where'd you get that?", to which she simply said "Ray gave it to me." She didn't consider it to be a valuable toy or anything, just a silly keepsake from me. But his jaw dropped to the floor in disbelief and he said "He GAVE it to you? You know what that means don't you?"
"No, what?" she said, suddenly a little disturbed over the hoo-hah about a little 3 inch tall Hot Wheels-like robot.
"It means..." he said, all deeply thoughtful and full or portent, "....he's serious."
And Grandizer has been standing on her dresser ever since.Micronauts Collector, Historian, Consultant
