I've seen a Superman head that did this all on its own. I've also overdone a couple of degraying attempts over the years where the heads took on too much of the pigment from the red Plasti-dip and they looked a lot like this.

My Burke (straight off the card) has a deeper tan as well, but is not shiny. It's an even color, though--incl. neck plug.
