What was mego's best selling action figure?

I have been looking around to see how many they sold of each superhero figure but I am unable to find anything.

If I had to guess I would say Batman because of the T.V. show, I would like to know the top 20 list.

Simply based on character longevity, and popularity to this day, as well as actual Mego productions runs, I would say Superman, Batman and Spider-Man topped the sales list. Not necessarily in that order.

I'd say Spiderman, but Batman was probably neck-to-neck.

Plus the fact that Batman had all the vehicles and playsets probably made him the 'top-seller'..

        Anyone have any actual stats..??

batman and robin do seem to show up most often on ebay. I've bought a few loose lots ... and every time there's a batman or at least a part of batman in them

I believe this discussion came up a few years ago, and the outcome was Spidey.

According to Benjamin Holcomb's book "Spider-Man is the most common figure, a result of enormous retail orders placed throughout the 1970s."

I think it was Hulk because of the interest in the TV show in the 1970s the Hulk sold quite well from what I remember.

I'm sure it was Batman hands down. Why else was more playsets, vehicles and figures too. Most of villians all batman's. That's not because hulk or spidey sold better, it's because batman sold best.

                            a) don't read other people's posts or
                            b) don't believe Benjamin Holcomb's research results.

I can totally believe that Spiderman was the most common. Just out of curiosity, I wonder where Mr. Holcomb got this information? Did the information come directly from one of the people who worked in sales at Mego?

A lot of people said they thought it would have been The Hulk. I would have thought The Hulk would have been much lower on the list. I have owned far more Batman, Robin, Superman and Spock figures than The Hulk. I've found that whenever I've picked up a lot of figures, those four have been by far more common than The Hulk. I think I've owned maybe 4 or 5 Hulks over the years, but I've owned dozens of Batman, Robin, Superman and Spock Megos.

It's interesting to hear what others think on this topic. I certainly would love to see a definitive list of the total sales numbers for each character! I realize that there probably is no such list, but it sure would be cool to see!
