Stinkey Batman!

I bought a T-1 Batman off EVIL-BAY.
Boy does he smell! Smells like a damp basement!
I read on this forum that if you put fabric softener sheets around fig and put him in a bag,a few days should help get rid of the smell.
Well that didnt work.
I am considering chucking the bugger.
Any one have any suggestions?

I have gotten a bunch of smelly ones lately. Cigarettes are the worst. I've had luck with the dryer sheets, but it takes a while and a few sheets. The smell needs to come out of the figure, like an exorcism. My KISS figures all smell like a night club and they've been left outside this Summer, sunshine and fresh air help, and they've been sealed up in a bin, wrapped in dryer sheets. Months later they still are stinky. I've had other ones that when I put them in a bin with all my other Megos, they drew in the old Mego smell and the stink went away. You can try taking off the clothes and washing the body with detergent to get some of the smelly residue off. I've never been brave enough to wash outfits, but some people do. It's trial and error. Don't give up and don't throw away a Mego. He'll give up the smell eventually. Good Luck!

The smell will come out of the clothing pretty easy, I've hung stinky GI Joe uniforms outside at night and brought them in for the day (I didn't trust that they'd be safe from the sun) for a week and they were fine. Plastic figures are another matter. I have taken cigarette stinking GI Joes and completely disassembled them and put them in the freezer with some baking soda. They were done in a couple of days. Freezing takes the smell out of plastic, but I'm not sure what it would do to an assembled Mego figure.

Does Fabreeze work on Mego figures or outfits? That's what I use on my clothes and coat when I work in a client's home and come out smelling like smoke.

Confining the figures with dryer sheets in a tight space works miracles for me.

I've tried dryer sheets,febreez,soapy water...=no change.Will try airing,sounds good.
Suspecting someone died with this thing in him!

I've washed lots of MEGO outfits.My wife has this zip up, mesh bag that's for washing small items.I wash them in cold water,and they have all came out great.

Some of my doll collecting friends put stinky toys out in the sunlight and swear that takes out the odors. Maybe if you lay the body in a box lined with a dryer sheet, with the top open, you could sit it in the sun and reduce the stink. Is there a chance that there's something stuck inside the torso?

I have used this with some Trek outfits:
Ecover United States - Lemon and Aloe Vera Dishwashing Liquid
I put a dab of the dish liquid into a zip lock bag with some cold water put in the outfit (I do separate blacks and colors) zip it up and let it sit for the day.
Dryer sheets worked great for some paperback books I bought.
If the figure itself was left in the damp, it might have some mold inside the pieces. Maybe pop the head and swab a q-tip inside the torso or re-string?

Get a glass of hot water with some Oxi Clean. Put the uniform in it and stir it real well. Rinse out the uniform and let it air dry.

Completely disasembled.The odor is encrusted in the plastic.
I am soaking everything but the head in soapy water.
Switch water every day.
Odor is dissipating.
I think this will work.

Aired out 5 days on clothesline=Still smells
Is there such a thing as plastic rot?
I have heard that when a dead body rots in,lets say a car,the smell is impossible to get out. Suspect something strange went on with this figure.
Smells of rot.
Do beleive this bat-boy has had it.

I'd think the smell would fade away over time but, I'd still probably try the OxiClean on the suit, and a light bath with warm soapy water and a toothbrush for the body and plastic accessories.

The inside of the doll might be rotten. You may want to take him apart clean inside or soak him in oxyclean for a day or so. Not with the costume on.
