    UK Fist Fighter Robin.

Many moons ago on the old forums I brought up the subject of a FF Robin that I bought here in the UK. Rather than having a notch in the back of the tunic it had a hole for the switch, pictured below.

At the time it was dismissed as a home cut effort and nothing more was said.

I have now seen another two exactly the same plus one more currently listed on ebay UK.

Could it be that this is actually how they were retailed here? It seems too much of a coincidence that there are others out there cut the same way.

Has anybody else come across other tunics like this?

Maybe it's time to accept that some of them came this way. With only two or three carded versions known it's a bit much to ask for one to be opened

    Your thoughts?

Yeah...I have no idea either....My F.F. Robin has the notch factory sewn into the tunic. To be honest I have never seen a F.F. tunic cut like that. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.........

Yeah, mine has the regular notch too. Here is another currently on Ebay....

My theory is that Batman was easy to transform into a FF because of the way his suit is already cut, and you can't have Batman without Robin. Either to get them on the shelves quickly or to continue the line once the proper tunic ran out, this modification was made.
Obviously there are a few strange variations on the Palitoy stuff that doesn't arise anywhere else and I think this is just another of those quirky little features.

I'm also convinced that some regular Robin tunics were cut by Mego/Palitoy for the Palitoy FF version. I have now seen seven FF Robins with the tunic cut the same way (All were Palitoy FF'ers).

Just out of curiousity...are Palitoy products marked Mego or Palitoy on the actual figures/clothing?
I'm assuming marked Palitoy, otherwise how could you tell the difference when there's no packaging left?

Palitoys have black buttons as opposed to Mego flesh-coloured buttons IIRC.

                  Cheers!

It's labeled Mego just like everything else. Realistily you can't tell the difference, unless is it is a specific piece that only came with the Palitoy figures - Eg, Hutch vest, Space 1999 range or the UK FFs but even then they are labeled with a Mego label. The bodies are just the same.
This stuff is just instinct as it is more likely to have come in a Palitoy packaging if it is for sale in the UK in the first place.

Yeah I think I read that somewhere recently. I don't have any FF yet.

Good to know. Just one of those things that never came up so had to ask. The UK connection makes perfect sense as well. I wonder how many items have found their way both ways across the ocean?

Tom, a little bit more weight behind my observations. I'm glad somebody else has come acroos them too. I thought I was all alone on this one.

Rich, i'm sure a lot have passed both ways across the pond that are now in collections. I know a lot of my collection has arrived from over your way. It's the ones that have been dormant in somebodies loft or attic for 30 years that are more likely to have originated on a Palitoy card.
