    Scarcity of WGSH Solidbox

Yeah, it probably been discussed but just how rare is each of the 4 solid boxes. i see (if at all) more of the Super-man followed by Bat Man, but the other two, hardly ever. I think there was a Robin in a recent Hakes auction wasn't there?

Is there a guestimate to how many are known to exist of each?

    Solid Boxes

IIRC, the original case-pack of 24 figures included 9 each of Superman and Batman, making them by far the most common.
I'm not sure whether Aquaman and Robin were evenly split for the remaining 6 slots at 3 apiece or not, but that seems probable.
It is definitely easier to find a solid box Batman or Superman in comparison to Aquaman and Robin.

Actually Robin doubled Aquaman, I'm surprised we see any of him at all but I've seen him more than Robin.

I'd say that I see Superman the most, then Batman, then Aquaman. As for how many of them are out there, no clue.

The caption says 9 Superman and 9 Batman, but the picture has 10 Batman and 8 Superman. Is that an error?

I love the vibrant colors on those figures. I look at my originals and forget that they once looked so good.

I have my original Supes, Bats, and Robin Solid Boxes, but they are torn and crushed a bit since I had them shoved to the back of my closet when I was a kid. (I don't remember what I did with the Aquaman one).
          It's all good!

10 and 8 in the pic, but 9 and 9 in the text.
            I wonder which is true?
            Nice picture btw

also interesting is the 6 character mixed marvel/dc graphic on the ad. Amazing. The release schedule for the early stuff must have really been compressed.

I've seen 2 or 3 solid box Aquaman pictured either here or in an auction. One was low grade box, one medium grade and a high grade one as well, but Robin. I've only seen the one that was in a Hakes auction. I take it nobody has a complete set then? (trying to encourage you to post pics :-)

Robin mat have doubled Aquaman within case packs, but more Robins were bought and opened by children back in the 1970's. Even at 2 per case, Aquaman probably was a shelf warmer to some degree with more surviving to be sold on the secondary market. This is probably why Aquaman seems to pop a bit more frequently than Robin.

We are splitting hairs since all four with mint figures are not easy to find.

I have a set but I don't think I have anything resembling a decent photo handy.

I agree with Tom, Robin is likely scarce because his case pack outweighed his demand.

Actually Aquaman was a pretty strange choice ahead of Flash and maybe Green Lantern for the first 4.

Might that be because Aquaman was seen more in the Filmation cartoons? I remember seeing Flash and GL, but I thought AM was more of a regular.

and Superfriends, when I think of Aquaman, I think of Superfriends because while I had heard of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and Robin before, I never heard of Aquaman until Superfriends.

And Superfriends were running when the WGSH first came out.

Aquaman had his own series in the 60s, so he was a big factor in the WGSH due the fact that his show was in that afternoon syndicated package that helped inspire Mego.
