Mego is really too extensive and diverse to collect everything, even the 8" figures.

At one point, I had almost all of the 8" figures MIB or MOC, even Zorro and all five Space: 1999s MOC. Then I found my niche in this hobby, to collect as many different '2nd issue' or 'standard' carded WGSH as I could from all over the world in the best possible condition. To raise funds, I had to sell or trade off a lot of my other Megos.

The best loose collections I can think of, with the most representation from the different lines, belong to Rob Chatlin (which I think was broken up), Tom Lopac, Dave Mc, Ron Peritore, and Peter R.

I agree, which is why I changed my inquiry to complete lines. I did have you in mind as a top contender, afa high end, quality collections.

I wasn't really thinking of this thread as a competition, I just know we have some long time collectors who probably have a pretty nice stash of figures, be it strictly DC, Marvel, Trek, or whatever.

I hate AFA, and I have zero AFA figures in my collection.

I don't know Huckabone well enough to suggest his. I remember when I first saw Tom L.'s collection and thinking OMG! Ahmed's former collection was unreal and a thing of beauty! I'm sure Dan's is world class too! Tough question to answer.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing those pics of Ahmed's collection (I had to use dial up too, it took forever!). That was an awe-inspiring collection.

I'm flailing in too many directions, collecting a little bit of everything (not just Megos, but other 70's toys too), so I haven't been able to focus (my time, energy and most importantly money) and complete one line. Except the 12" Mego Black Hole figures, I have all of them (try not to be too jealous ) There are a few other lines where I am one or two figures away from completion. But yeah, my problem is that I love too many different toy lines (including tons of Mego lines) to ever get everything I want for my collection.

No offense, I meant it short for "As Far As" high end Megos not AFA figures, should have been clearer.

Brian and Dan point out something about today's Mego collecting- its so diverse and expensive, I think you will see collectors focusing on a partcular area with impressive results. Whether its Dan's WGSH packaging variants or Mike J's Ape collection, it would be hard for a gerneralist to have a more collection that would compare. OR at least, it would be difficult to even make the comaparison.

It's very common in Star Wars collecting but you see it more and more with our ilk as well.

You make a good point. Even with a single line it is hard and expensive to get everything. Apes and ape playsets would be a good example.

I believe he sold off his collection about 3-4 years ago... as mentioned, I bought all of his loose WGSH at the time ...not sure about his boxed and carded and other lines...

Ahmeds collection is all gone, except for about 15-20 customs.
