Will there be a Mego live event tonight? Will they be revealing next Monday's Topps offerings?

(For the sports card collectors, Panini is getting hit too with the loss of NBA (and NBAPA) and NFLPA.)
The bigger worry about Topps as a result of the MLB decision is this:

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/topps-s...al-11629463989

Their planned merger which would allow them to go public and raise the operating capital they needed moving forward has collapsed because of the MLB/MLB Player's Union decision not to renew with Topps. This was the planned deal that fueled their recent resurgence in Topps value, which, not that it will remain public has potential investors backing out of financing agreements and has caused estimated of Tops valuation to plummet since the MLB decision was announced yesterday. It's great that they want to branch out and diversify. The business reality is such moves require investment and capitalization or debt margins get too high. Topps thought they had a deal in place to ensure that investment and capitalization and it has now fallen though. That, more than the loss of the MLB card deal, is the real concern regarding Topps future. Can they secure the financing they need to cover operating costs in the short and long term for them to reap any potential revenue these attempts at diversification can provide. Will the perception of Topps among investors remain attractive enough for them to secure the type of financing they will need with the loss of this merger and the capital influx going public would provide?

They will still produce MLB card until 2025 and have the short term revenue from that until their current deal expires. The question is, will they find investors to replace the SPAC group they were to merge with to ensure long term capitalization? No amount of new licenses or new product types can guarantee the type of confidence in a company needed to secure the kind of financing they will need. The Mego deal could be a huge success and reap a lot of revenue, but if investors don't see that as a long term solution for what they lost in the SPAC merger deal, it won't matter.

Update: I jumped the gun. Their partnership ends in 2025. So this shouldn't affect anything right now.

Any word on packaging for these figures? Is it safe to assume they'll be carded or might they come in old JC Penney mailer boxes?

I would assume this was a general press release or the figures of some of these would be variants... ex: Charlies Angels Farrah Fawcett
