WGSH: There are just too many favorites in this line for me. As each wave progressed there was always a new one with a new look and new accessorries that became my favorite. Shazam is my favorite but Green Arrow was a close second because of all the cool extras.
Edit: I see that some of us are subdividing the WGSH line. Works for me.
DC: Shazam
Marvel: Iron Man
Super-Foes: Joker
Super-Gals: Wonder Woman
Teen Titans: Kid Flash
POTA: General Ursus. I didn't like him best because he was General Ursus, because he looked nothing like General Ursus. I liked him best because he was what the soldier ape should have been: menacing looking and great costume. The face, cuffs, and boots really define this figure. I would have preferred a club (not an AJ baseball bat) instead of the sword and painted black hands but Ursus is my fave.
Mad Monsters: The Wolfman! He was scary looking and he really stood out amongst the other monsters.
Star Trek: The Klingon was my favorite. He was a cool looking figure and he didn't have those horrible molded leg boots. I never owned the second wave of Aliens but I suspect the Romulan may have battled the Klingon for my affection.Last edited by Action Martin; Jul 5, '08, 6:58 AM.Leave a comment:

WGSH
BEST: TIE between Green Arrow and HULK Both are exceptionally well done--but my favorite is a also a tie-- between Superman and Batman (painted head)!
Super Foes
BEST: The Joker--but my favorite is The Riddler (the standard mego body jumpsuit just works perfectly for his leotard costume!)
POTA
BEST: General Urko (even with his costume's crazy cartoon coloring)--favorite Cornelius/Galen
STAR TREK
BEST: The Romulan is so cool, but Captain Kirk with it's amazing Shatner likeness is still my favorite (Dr McCoy is great too) and I always loved the funky looking Keeper!
MAD MONSTERS
BEST: Dreadful Dracula--but my favorite is The Human Wolfman
STARSKY AND HUTCH
BEST: Starsky (but why didn't he get his trademark big collared, belted knit sweater? It's just not Starsky without it or a leather jacket!) My favorite: HUTCH (his vest feels so neat, lol)
HAPPY DAYS
BEST: Fonzie (So cool back in the day--at least he got a leather jacket! Just try getting THAT jacket collar NOT to stand up and look cool!)
Well, that's my list. I only picked from the mego lines that I had when I was a kid, here.
I do have to remark that the Mister Fantastic, The Thing, Green Goblin and The Falcon figures were/are all excellent renditions of those characters in mego form!Leave a comment:

I think my two favorite sculpts are for Superman (looking at him always reminds me of a Curt Swan Illustration in 3-D) and the Lizard. Lizard doesn't really look like the Comic so much, but what neat detail and painting.
The runner up would be Kirk, just because I still remember the day I got one, it was thrilling to be able to play out a Star Trek story, look at the figure and think that it looked just like in the show.Leave a comment:

It doesn't have to be your favorite. Which ones did you think had the best overall design?Last edited by The Phantom; Jul 3, '08, 6:53 PM.Leave a comment:

Zaiua is pretty cool, however I'm not sure who I'd pick as my favorite from that line...
However, as far as his jacket being too short, I wouldn't say it is... It's about the right length to be the "Forbidden Zone/Man-Hunt" outfit seen in the end scenes of PLANET... What is wrong though is the color, but at least they didn't make it blue like so many other Zaius items from that era...Leave a comment:

WGSH
DC-Green Arrow- Nice sculpt, cool accessories, great character.
Marvel-Thor, while not my favorite character, is just a cool Mego
Star Trek
Kirk- He's da man!
POTA
Cornelius
Knights
Ivanhoe- Cool look, cool lance, and he's got a cool ride.
Pirates
Blackbeard. I like the sword.
American West
Wild Bill. I love all the Westerns but WB is my fav for some reason.
Mad Monsters
Don't really have a favorite here-
Robin Hood
Wil Scarlett. I almost said Robin, but Wil has the cool hood that just makes the character look way cool
Starsky and Hutch
Chopper- Don't ask me why, I couldn't tell you.
The Waltons
BAH!
Happy Days
The Fonz- AYYYEE!!!!!
WOZ
Tinman- He's just cool
Dukes had 6 figures in the line so you have to count them if you count HD's and S&H- Going to have to go with Boss Hogg here, he looked the part, although a little tall.Leave a comment:

WGSH - RC Bats!
POTA - Zaius, Astronaut, Cornelius, Burke, Soldier Ape. I can't pick just 1!
That's it. Spock and Robin Hood are up there. Magnetic Bats. Comic Action Hero Bats, Vincent, Twiki, Acroyer, Galactic Defender, Force Commander...............
All time favorite Mego - RC Bats.
Man...it's hard to pick single faves.Leave a comment:

WGSH
DC-Batman - for no reason other than he was my childhood favorite
Marvel- I really like most of the marvel line except for Thor. Hulk is my favorite.
Star Trek - The Andorians are pretty cool, Neptunian has a great head sculpt.
POTA
Always loved the POTA line, toss up between Zaius and Urko despite the Purple Pants.
Knights
The Black Knight.
Pirates - Always been a big fan of Black Beard. Actually I better liked what Matchbox did with the fighting furies. Except the joints are too loose.
American West
Davey Crockett. It was a bit of an odd choice for Mego, since he wasn't really a cowboy, or an indian. I agree totally with this choice. I might have put Zorro in this line up, and he definately would take my favorite pick.
Mad Monsters
Mummy. Great line, but I like the Mummy. The Werewolf is ridiculous but I like him too.
Robin Hood - Robin Hood. Not so much because of the figure but always one of my favorite stories.Leave a comment:

Best figure from your favorite line?
Last week there was a thread started about the least favorite figure in your your favorite line. I was wondering, what's the best figure from your favorite line, or any line for that matter. Or even better, what was the best figure from all the lines in your opinion? I'll start:
WGSH
DC-The Joker. Nice and simple, even with the silk screen suit(the less layers the better). Could have had better fitting shoes, though. Purple hands would have been cool too.
Marvel-The Falcon. If he had white gloves, it would have been perfect. Closest to the artwork on the packaging(next to the Joker).
Star Trek
The Romulan.Obviously, I'm not going out on a limb here. Just an awesome figure, and I always thought the head would make a good Sarak.
POTA
Dr. Zaius. Best head sculpt out of all of them,I think. My only complaint was his jacket was too short.
Knights
The Black Knight. Though he should have had black pirate boots.
Pirates
Captain Patch. Even without the pegleg or parrot, he looked the most like a pirate.
American West
Davey Crockett. It was a bit of an odd choice for Mego, since he wasn't really a cowboy, or an indian.
Mad Monsters
Frankenstein. But he might have looked cooler if he was green, and didn't have eyebrows.
Robin Hood
Friar Tuck. I know that's sounds weird, but he looked the most like the charactor, and he had the wine.
Starsky and Hutch
Starsky. With a Fonzie jacket, he looked cool. Also,he drove the car.
The Waltons
John boy. I never had any of them, but if I had to pick, I would go with him. At least you could reuse the head.
Happy Days
The Fonz, of course. The others really didn't look like the charactors.
WOZ
The Scarecrow. Mego really captured Ray Bolger's likeness.
I left out Chips and The Dukes of Hazzard, because of the number of figures in the line(3) and the Chips figures were all the same except for the heads. I also omitted the foreign lines, since it wasn't available to us in the states.
So what do you guys(and gals) think?Tags: None
