Last Mego Figures You Saw At Retail?

When I was in college in Tahlequah, OK in 1984, I saw some dusty, carded WGSH and Star Trek figs at TG&Y when they were going out of business. I passed by them with only a twinge of nostalgia, as I was only there to talk to a girl who worked there. I never thought about collecting in those days, as I had no money. I did not know that Mego was out of business at that point, and never would have thought I'd have ever been as deeply into action figure collecting and customizing as I am today.

I think the mid-80's for me, too. Buck Rogers. I remember thinking "Gee, its neat that the toys are still popular even though the show hasn't been around for 2-3 years." Duh.

Human Torch in the mid-80's at Osco Drug Store. He was looking sad and leaning in the package. I think he knew he was the last one.

Last Megos I saw at retail were the 12" Buck rogers figures at the local Toys R Us, probably in the mid 80's. I wish I had bought them then, some of Mego's best looking figures I think.

89 or 90, when Children's Palace was going out of business, I hit a few that were clearing out old stock and bought loads of Micronauts, and saw occasional Eagle Force, Dukes of Hazzard and 2XL toys scattered around.

TOY R US had CHiPs and The Incredible Hulk and Spiderman as late as around 1985/86...

Ditto for KBToys who had The Dukes of Hazzard up to around the same time...

Montgomery Wards had a lot of different ones in stock until probably around '81/82...

Chips were the last 8" I can remember seeing. Might have been Hulk.

Eagle Force are definitely the last Mego figures I remember seeing at retail.

Children's Palace in Evansville, Indiana, around 1987. They had Batman, Robin and Spider-Man. Actually, they also had some of the 12" STTMP figures and possibly another couple of the 12" figures (maybe The Black Hole and/or Buck Rodgers). They also still had some of the Star Trek 3 3/4" figures, some of the CHiPs 3 3/4" bad guys and Jon, I think. I've mentioned all of this before in the other times this question has been asked. The other Mego toy I saw around that time (and it had been at Children's Palace for a while) was the Greatest American Hero VW Bug with Ralph, etc. (wish I knew then what I know now, of course).

I remember seeing carded 8" Hulks at the Toys R Us stores in my area up until around 1988 I think. I started collecting Mego as an "adult collector" about two years or so later, and went back looking to see if I could still score a cheap Hulk but they were gone by then. I may have seen the occasional Spidey too during the mid-80s.

I have a vague recollection of seeing ST-TMP 3" figures and red carded Pocket Heroes at the Bargain Town Toys R Us in South Chicago well into the mid to late '80s as well. Of course I bought none of them at that point

The last retail Mego figures...

Hi, the very last surviving retail Mego figures were at the Sunnyvale, CA Toys 'R Us. I remember several Hulks (all with fallen limbs), and a few Ponch figures too. That's it.

Just like all you guys, I remember Toys R Us in Flint, MI having a peg full of Mego HULKs (every single one had a broken leg!!!)--until around 1989.

I missed out on TRUs clearanced Buck Rogers Star Fighter too. Ouch!

I was there buying up the last of the original Star Wars Power of the Force figures on clearance, as Return of the Jedi had run it's course, and the mainstay toys of original Star Wars trilogy years were just about to fade away...

I also remember seeing some Dukes of Hazzard, BO and CHIPs, Jon figures still hanging around in some of the local discount stores around that time too.

I also only new mego's as the 8" figure back then. I had 2 encounters back in the late 70s early 80s. First was in a hobby shop called Oddo's. I found a 8" Bo Duke. I bought him to animate in an 8MM film. (wish I could find that mini-movie.) The other was the capture chair from the POTA line at Woolworths. No figures just the chair so I didnt buy it.

The TRU I went still had loads (and I mean loads) of common WGSH up until 1989 when the Batman movie came out. Hulk, Spiderman, Superman and Batman. Probably others too. But those are the ones I remember seeing. I think most of the Hulks had broken knees though.

The Kaybee near me (which is now long gone) still had Dukes of Hazard 8 inch and 3 3/4 inch well into the early 90s.
