Last Mego Figures You Saw At Retail?

For me it was Myx up until the early eighties gathering dust at Dominion Playworld. After that, the variety store next to my grandfather's shop had two Uhuras hanging around until about 1986 when I bought them and began this life of shame and misery.

That same year I found 20 Klingons at a Pennyworths for $2 a pop.

What were the last ones you saw?

Around the early 80s (81-83 maybe?), boxed Human Torch, Invisible Girl, Iron Man and Green Goblin began turning up in the toy aisle of Great American (grocery store chain).
      I passed on them.

        Hmmmm....

Saw a few Batmans and Robins at a Shopper's Drug Mart in 1985 or so. Bought two; and ended up trading them for the first 12 issues of Grimjack.

I think the last Mego's I remember seeing at stores were 3-3/4" Dukes and CHiPs

I remember seeing them in a local dollar store in the late 80's ...

The Toys 'R Us in Arlington, Texas, had Spideys and Hulks for $1.99 a pop as late as 1987 or 88, I believe. Of course, I didn't buy them.

I honestly don't remember. When I was still interested I did most of my hunting in Sears catalogs. My mother worked at a small Sears that didn't have a toy deptartment so many things I got came from the catalog.

K-mart was a big source for me back in the day, so I would imagine the last I saw on the shelves was there. By the time the stuff was being closed out, I was "too cool" to cruise toy sections so didn't notice.

I was the same way. I had my first Megos when I was young, my parents got them for me. As I got older Star Wars was the rage. By the time Megos were in the close-out bins, I was into cars, girls and toys weren't on the list. I'm still interested in cars and girl, but I've found a place for my toys once again.

The last Mego I saw retail was Thor at Kmart circa 1979. I almost bought it till I saw a girl I had a crush on and tossed it aside. I was maybe 14 and buying toys wasn't going to impress her at all.

Around 1989 or 90 (I forget which, but it was definitely one of those two years) I found two carded Hulks at a Child's World for $1.99 each, and at a local mall toystore (I think it was called Playworld) I found carded Kirks and Spocks for $7.99, plus some Action Jackson outfits for $1.99 each (I think these were from that Canadian warehouse find). I remember being especially surprised seeing the AJ outfits, considering how old they were at that point. Out of all these, I bought a Hulk, Kirk and Spock.

I may have seen some Dukes figures around this same time or later, but I'm not really sure because I didn't have any interest in them.

The last one was a Star Trek Mugato, somewhere in the mid-eighties.
I thought: "He doesn't look at all like the creature. I'll just wait and buy him some other time."
Today, I have all Star Trek Megos except...Mugato.

Late eighties Bridlewood Mall in North York. I believe it was called Pinoccio Toys or something similar, right next to the public library.

A 9" Robin and 12" Batman (skinny Canadian versions).

I'm assuming this was part of the warehouse find.

At the time as youngster I was aghast at the price tag they had attached them. Can't remember exactly what it was... probably fifteen or twelve dollars or something similar.

A "sidekick" display of 1979 Spider-Man figures at Children's Palace in 1986. I was in the throes of ending my toy-playing days. Since I had a decent Mego Spidey, I passed on them for a BraveStarr figure. Ugh!
