Del (Sorry to hijack this thread, Batgirl)...but I'm so ridiculously enamoured with Planet of the Apes...is a regular Supergals body the same as Zira's body?

I have never owned a Zira, so I couldn't say for sure. I'd say so, because Mego didn't do a lot of variations on the female 8" body. If anything, it looks like she might have darker hands - I can't tell from the pic if she has hairy-looking hands similar to the Ape males.
Zira : Planet of the Apes: Mego Museum
If someone else can add to this list, feel free. All I can think of are:
      1. Regular female body(jointed arms, legs, waist, etc)
      2. Straight-armed female(same as regular, but with non-jointed elbows or wrists)
      3. Daisy Duke(neck attached instead of a plug, straight arms, straight legs)
I don't know if the One Million BC female was released on another unique body or not.
I'm not counting these as 8" bodies, but I figured I'd mention them:
      1. Wonder Girl
      2. 9" female body(Dale Arden)

Wow, id never even seen that range of Megos till now. I dont even know if they were released over here? So, could you ,(for example) Use a Daisy head on a Dinah Mite body?
          This could be interesting

very cool restoration. museum quality and that is no pun. Being unfamiliar with this particular Mego. I have to ask. What pieces is the WW missing (ie Tiara, etc.)and whats the plan for providing them. Are you gonna search them out or fabricate them yourself.
anyway this is a project I'm interested in seeing progress.

She looks great. Beautiful job on the hair.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Batgirl, I just bought a Wonder Woman!! I am going to try my hand at re-rooting. I've always meant to do it, and when I saw yours, I was INSPIRED. So did you use a metal crochet hook or did you use some other device...like a beading needle, and how did you knot the ends...did you melt the vinyl hair with a candle or use a knot?

Wow thanks! Originally The WW doll came with tiara, boots, bracelets, golden lasso, and also Diana Prince glasses, and a military uniform, and black shoes.
Ive managed to track down a tiara (Yippee), and one bracelet. Ive been thinking about how to copy the bracelet, but i havent come across anything suitable yet. Im thinking about getting some gold cord from a haberdashery supplier for the lasso. Ill post a new pic in a couple of days, with the accessories ive found.
                      Thanks.

Fantastic Jess!!! What a find! You go girl
I used a modified embroidery needle, inserted into a wooden handle. You put the sharp end into the handle, and cut diagonally across the "eye" so you have like a little fork - (one side should be higher than the other). Then, you get your length of hair, halve it, and put the fold over the "fork" and pull it tight. Then with the tension still applied , insert into the empty plug. Because of the tension, it goes in skinny, but as you draw out the needle, and let the tension go,it expands and holds it in place. So it kind of knots itself up inside the head, and you dont need to knot it manually. Sometimes a little bit will come out, if you load up the needle too much. Its a lot faster than the other methods i have seen. Just be careful not too apply too much pressure, especially in the part where the holes are very close together, or you could split the head. I will post some pics in the next couple of days, step by step.
Congratualtions!!! Ps take some before pics for later reference

                            Ok step by step;

Get your hair combed out and ready.

Then take a small section, and halve it,

Then get your tool and loop the hair around the prongs.

Then insert the tool, with the hair into the empty plug, (make sure you have really strong tension on the hair)

Push it all the way in, and give it a bit of a turn as you go.

This should knot it up inside the head.

Then keep going, till you fill up all the holes.....

I actually bought this one off ebay, about a year and a half ago. Its called a rerooting tool. But its pretty easy to make your own. You could use a long cork instead of a wooden handle, and then your modified embroidery needle. ITs a U shape after you diagonally cut across the eye, one side is lower than the other. Sometimes they break, so its handy to make you own replacements. I got mine off an Aussie seller...
                                Hope this helps
