    1977 Parkdale Novelty Catalog

This rare and wonderful piece from Canada recently surfaced and it’s a neat look into how Mego distribution worked in the great white North. Growing up just outside of Toronto, this catalog, which is hobbled together from a variety of sources, solved more than one “why didn’t I get that” mysteries for me. For more…

Star Trek was one of Parkdale’s best selling lines in the 1970s, while both aliens lines were released in Canada, it was a limited affair as they concentrated mainly on the crew.

What stood out immediately to is these where the same pics of the figures Heroes World must have been looking at when their ads were drawn, The Goblin pose was instantly recognizable to me.

A really neat piece. I am surprised that Tarzan was still offered by then.
                It's all good!

Great catalog! I didn't realize that the FF/Conan/Thor had such a limited release in Canada, I must have lucked out and stumbled upon them in our local department store soon after they were released up here (I was a huge FF fan when I was a kid and snapped up Mr Fantastic, Thing and Torch pretty quickly).

I only ever remember seeing Thing and Torch (boxed) at like a K-Mart or similar stores once, and then never again. Don't recall seeing Thor or Conan or the rest of the FF outside of the Heroes World ads. Definitely never saw the Teen Titans as a kid in person.

The 12" Superheroes on the other hand, are my fondest Mego memories and made Christmas awesome. (I would imagine the Christmas before Star Wars became the special items for us under the tree.)

I saw Thing and Torch ONCE in the Dominion Playworld in the bottom of the Scarborough Town Center.I stupidly didn't buy them and when I returned in '78, it was all Hulk/Spider-Man.

In the 80s I bought a Thor off a guy locally, i asked where he got it, same store.

Interesting how they X-ed out what they no longer carried. The only Bat-vehicle I had, or even saw, was the Batmobile. I guess the Batcycle stuck around for a bit too.

As a kid, I remember a huge shelf of unsold Batcopter's at my local toy store. I think they just stopped carrying it because it didn't move like the Batmobile or Cycle.

^Well, the design on that one is really questionable. It looks like a preschool toy, honestly.
