If their production is cheap, why do they cost so much? LOL!!! I mean think about it; you're paying anywhere from $20 to $40 bucks a pop for things that, back in the day, might've cost you, at most $5.00 at Roses or Kresge.sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment

Your complaint doesn't hold up for anyone that has taken Economics 101.

I really need to see pics of this Batman figure. The wait is agonizing! This figure is a hugely important part of this line and FTC needs to knock it out of the park. I admit it's a big challenge too, so many different looks to choose from, not to mention the physical aspects of production, but nevertheless, we've all been waiting forty years for this--a Mego style Batman that doesn't look silly and goofy.
As for the wave 4 figures we've seen so far--Ras looks good to me, but Scarecrow too much of an Alex Ross vibe to it. Too much detail in the mask for me. I'll still pick it up, but I'm worried that it will look out of place on the shelf with other Megos. I don't need a Gordon at all, and I really wish we had gotten a villain instead. Batman has so many bad guys that have never been made in this scale by any company. I wouldn't even mind a truly goofy silver age style villain, like Firefly or Catman or the Outsider. I understand that Gordon has been a big deal in Batman comics ever since Frank Miller gave us a new take on him in Year One, but to me Gordon means one less cool Batman villain I'll get to see. Not a fan of Alfred either. I guess I'm just not much for civilian characters.
Here are some suggestions for new figures in future waves:
Clayface! The Marshall Rogers "Clayface III" version with the dome on his head holding his face together. Truly horrific but I think he'd make an incredible Mego style figure.
Catwoman, but only if FTC creates a new female body with hips, and designs a face that isn't a standard Mego "doll face."
Mr. Freeze in his Mr. Zero outfit. These are Mego style figures, so bring on the silver age fun.
Penguin on the smaller Mxyzptlk body: the Mego Penguin was always much too tall; with his hat he was taller than Captain Marvel and Superman! Unacceptable. I need a short Penguin for my shelf. Give him an umbrella too please.
Talia: They're making Ras so Talia is sort of a requirement. But the Catwoman disclaimer applies: Talia is no good to anyone if she's homely and she has sticks for legs. If FTC isn't willing to bring out a new female body they shouldn't make any new female characters.
Firefly: Kind of goofy, but he has a great look and would look great in this style.
The Outsider--he'd look great as a Mego and would give the already released Alfred figure more importance on the shelf.
Catman--another great silver age baddie, he'd look great next to Catwoman.
In the spirit of the variants they're giving us in the 1966 line, I think a few comic Batman variants might work as well. How about the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh? Or the half Batman-half Superman composite version? A first appearance version?
Oh yeah, and I'd gladly take a Carrie Kelly Robin variant too...Comment

The first 12" Mego Batman was nicely Adamsesque IMO; The second, meaner "Magnetic sculpt was great, too. I've thought for some time now that FTC could resize & reissue these heads as variant Batmen--nice additions and homages to the 8" line.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

I didn't like either of those sculpts...I really hope FTC doesn't use either of those.Last edited by The Bat; May 3, '15, 8:25 PM.sigpicComment

I'll definitely have to cherry pick myself...you can't buy everything. In this new wave all I'm really interested in IS Batman. Don't like the Jim Gordon(I think I remember "big head syndrome?") Don't like the Ra's head sculpt...but I'll probably buy it for the costume, because I know where I can get a better custom head.

It isn't just inflation. Old Megos were cheaper because they were mass market items you could find on the rack at Kresge. The current crop are specialty items sold to a fairly small group of collectors like us. FTC (or whoever makes them) still has to pay for tooling and other fixed costs that can't be distributed over the volume of sales you get from a big run. I'm afraid we won's see lower pricing on these toys unless they do become mass market again, which seems unlikely.Comment
