It's an email list that's been around for 10+ years, and is all about Trek toys and collectibles. Lots of members there that really know their Trek stuff, including Trek author Kelly Hoffman, who I mentioned earlier.

Oh believe me, the demand is there. According to Creation Entertainment, Star Trek convention attendance has not dropped, and places like Intergalactic Trading in Florida have seen an increase in demand for all things classic Star Trek in collectibles, both old/vintage and the newer items being produced. We have seen that on internet auction sites like eBay an increase in classic Star Trek toy sales. Lets not forget that Diamond Select has released the retro cloth figures too. Paul Clarke has stated that Diamond Select was shocked when on their pre-orders on the original first set that included Kirk, the pre-orders alone were triple what they had "estimated" they might actually sell in total. They had to quickly place another large order just to fill all of the pre-orders alone. I could go on and on. And your right, the publisher did their homework too. I had to wait months for them to research into the possible demand for such a book. They really jumped on the idea once the new movie was announced as they love to release a book as a tie in to a big movie release like they did with the Transformers toy book around the release of the Transformers movie.

The cover of a book can be a very important part. I was in on some of the conversation of what we wanted for a cover. I originally had a bit of a different idea of what I thought would be a cool cover , but we (the editor and her bosses, their marketing dept, layout and design people etc and I) all talked it over on the phone about it and then they had a couple meetings about it and then we all talked about it by phone again and all agreed on using a picture of my white Franklin Mint 25th Anniversary Enterprise collectible for the cover. The Enterprise is after all one of the most recognizable of any Star Trek image on the planet.
The cover photo shoot took place a while back and the final cover design was approved last week.

I own a bunch of sports cars so I have an account with Supermotors which is nice as they offer free image hosting, and so that is where I tossed up the image of the new book cover so I can post it on some sites.
I had forgotten that they add there sites name to the bottom of the pictures.
Looks kind of strange with an image of the Enterprise with Supermotors on the bottom of the picture. I guess in a way thats true, those warp engines truly are Super motors LOL

Is it strictly a paperback print ? Will there be hardcover prints as well ?

Do you know when the sample pages will be available at Amazon ?

I would assume only large format paperback.

Sample pages won't be available for awhile still as they are just laying out the content of the pages now. But as we know the cover design is done so I would hope places like Amazon will be putting that up at some very point soon.

Very cool, but is it not out until October ??
Can never really trust Amazon on release dates.
Probably be out in Europe in March next year.
That's a good pre-order price.

Congrats on the book. I will be getting it! And yes, there is just something about original Star Trek that might go through bear periods but always ends up coming back.

Well, it's really getting recognized now as even Borders and Barnes and Noble have it listed now on their sites as well
