What's missing from modern day "Mego-like" toy lines

A lot of people comment at their definition of Mego or Mego-like. Even though companies like BBP, Zica, our beloved retired Cast-a-way, EMCE, Dida playsets and all of our friends who do customs have done a great job, there's still one thing missing: THE COMMERCIALS!! I know w/ the internet, there really isn't any reason to put out commercials for these products, except for the pure enjoyment factor. Brian and his kids did a GREAT job on the Brick Mantooth/Super Collector commercial, and I for one would love to see that kind of thing on regular TV. Aside from the cheese factor, it might even get kids interested in the toy lines, like we were interested in Megos back in the day. And now w/ the '66 Batman toys coming out, I would LOVE to see some commercials w/ kids, (and maybe their dads) enjoying this stuff.

Do any of you feel the same way?
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

What amazes and perplexes me is how NO ONE has been able to access these old commercials and restore them. It seems all of the old Adventure Team GI Joe commercials are restored now. But Mego remains a seemingly neglected toy line for this process. With all of this good will coming from the Abrams family for the retros, how is it no one has the masters for these commercials? I don't get it.

I wanted to do more with the kids, including a BBP Who commercial but a certain ex-member called my kids names on Youtube and that was the end of that.

Oh and Tom, Dave Mc did a great job with the commercials i transferred. I wish he still had the means, I'm sitting on Fighting Furies reels here.

Yeah, it's one of the joys of being management. My wife's head did that thing, you know when Aquaman calls the fish on the Superfriends? Yeah, she did that.

Well, if they're an EX member, there's no reason you shouldn't make another one if you want to.

Well they must be out there somewhere, 'cos they used to sell the VHS at toy shows, and they're probably selling DVD copies now. And they're all over YouTube. In fact, someone loaded the whole compilation at once, (it's about an hour long).

I remember something about that. That is beyond deplorable. I don't understand how some people think.

Sorry to hijack the thread, I wish that more companies would embrace at least youtube for some of this stuff.

You're not hijacking it, Brian. It's still on topic. And I think that would be a great second choice to putting them on network TV. Websites could advertise the commercials on Facebook and Twitter, since these seem to be the popular mediums. Kids could watch them w/ their parents, and really get into the lines. I mean the SMDM was advertised last year on DVD. Can you imagine someone pumping both the DVDs and the toys w/ double feature commercials on YouTube? Both mediums would soar right through the roof!

Lego and Imaginext are masters of using DVD for selling toys. It would be cool to see BBP figures as extras on a Venture Brothers DVD.

I'm, talking about taking the current series of commercials available and restoring them. Or at least cleaning them up so there is better clarity in them. Yes, there are a handful of much later commercials ('77-'78) that have some clarity, but the early to mid-70's commercials are pretty ragged out. It would be fun to see those restored as the classic A-Team commercials were.

Thanks heaps. I grew up with Bratz dolls. Had NO idea that mego did adverts, just saw some Action Jackson [neat theme song] and p.o.t.a ones on you tube. No mego monsters though.........for shame.
