Scored an early T1 Supeman last weekend!

Picked up this fine fellow at the Sci Fi Expo last weekend in Dallas. Man, i am excited about this one but i want to make sure it is what i think it is. The condition is unbelievable for a 40 year old figure. He looks like he came right out of the box, or Kresge card. T1, purple outfit, nylon trunks, large S logo, stirrup outfit, skinny boots..... he's hitting on all cylinders! Everything but the cape emblem and as far as i can tell there never was one. The boots were on him but weren't pushed on all the way so i just removed them to keep them safe and i didn't want to risk splitting them. What do you think? If he is all original, which i believe that he is.... he's got to be one of the better examples of an early Superman out there. Looks almost as good as the one in Ben's book.

          Couple of things...

That is a great looking Superman for starters. Those are the skinny boots and they look great.

I do not think that is a large S superman, but a regular emblem. The Large S would come down further and cover more territory on the suit.

Take a look at the galleries for comparison...you will have to scroll down to see the Large S superman - it's still a very nice figure though Bill!

Looks like a Large S to my eye, may have fallen off at one time perhaps and been re-glued back on, but it is a large S decal.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Funny how the camera brought out some blue in the suit. To the eye it looks purple/lavender, to the extent i would have sworn the material had always been that color. I have my doubts now. I suppose it could have faded after 40 years.

I don't plan on selling but i'd like to know how i did. Plus i keep a journal of my collection as a guide for my daughter when she inherits all this one day. What kind of value would you assign to him? Thanks!

Anyone have any ideas on what this guy is worth? Just a ballpark, not planning on selling. I'd just like to know how I did on him. Thanks!

If truly a large S emblem then about $350+ I would say I mean ive seen him with damaged large S emblems go for mid $200s.

If it truly is a Large S decal (and I still have my doubts personally - although there are times it looks large S and other times it doesn't) then it is worth about $500 in that condition.

As you know, worth is based upon what someone is willing to pay. An ebay seller had a nice Large S superman up not long ago fro $750 and got an offer of $500 for it.

What's a good way to verify one way or the other if it is a large S decal? Is there a measurement that can verify it or something? When i found him, he was laying next to a nice T2 Supes so it was obvious to me the differences in the two right away. That doesn't mean the decal isn't a repro but given the condition of the rest of the figure, i didn't feel it was out of the question for it to be original and in that good of shape. Thanks to you and everyone for your comments.
