It's definitely not a repro.
I've owned a few large S supes and the S just seemed bigger than this one.
However, if you saw it next to a Type 2 superman and it was noticeably larger, then it's a Large S.
There are no measurements that I know of. Sometimes the angle of a picture throws me off.
The fact that it has the skinny boots means that it is probably a Large S.
And since the others say it's a Large S, then I'm in the wrong. I've been known to be wrong in the pastComment

See, this is what I think of when I think Large "S" Superman.

It looks like a great example of a large S to me, Based on the offers I got for mine last year, you are looking at somewhere between $350 and $450. On the right day with the right buyer you could get more, and values fluctuate, once upon a time it might have reached 6 or 7 hundred. I hope you got a great deal.Comment

Hi - a very nice figure indeed....an almost perfect example, congrats....not trying to urinate on anyone's parade here, but I'm of the opinion that it's the smaller version. I have a loose and a MOC and I think megospidey is correct. Especially when you look at the one that's on evilbay right now.

Here's a quick pic I just grabbed of my 2 Superman figures for comparison. Was there only one size of large S decals? I can kinda see what Megospidey is saying about the one currently up on eBay right now, it looks to be larger than on my guy. May just be placement and camera angle though. I think you'd have to agree though, in my pic there is a difference in the size of the decals.

The plot thickens...it appears we have a bonafide "Medium S" Superman
Just kidding. That emblem is larger than the one next to it, but smaller than the one from the auction I showed.
Apparently the large S came in different sizes....large and x-large.Comment

Didn't the large S supermen come with an S in the front and back???? Was the S in the back a large S as well, or was it a bit smaller than the Large S but bigger than the Regular S, if so could it be that matbe the front S fell off and the back S was moved to the front? Just guessing at this point.Comment

Some of the very early Solid Box Supermans came with a Large S decal on front and back, but only a few were found that way.

Rob that is a beautiful pic man..... i need to work on getting a solid box for my Supes now, well a repro anyway.
Thanks to everyone for all the participation in the thread and compliments. A couple have asked, and yeah, i got a very sweet deal on him. I had no idea at the time what he may be worth, but i knew enough to snag him up immediately before someone else did.
