Name tags with ebay id is a great idea, imp, and was on my short list of ideas. I am really tickled how mm members have pm'd me some great ideas or put up great ideas on this thread (one GREAT idea may be released very soon, but its not my call as to when that person will release it!).
I have already worked out how I would lay out the table floor plan in restaurant based on whether 20, 40, 0r 60 show up. Even if only ten show up and bring their respective partners and/or kids, we will be a happy crowd! I was thinking one long table in center of dining area to eat and drink while cluster tables surrounding it has a Customs in Progress section & Assistance(Seattle Ed idea), a For Sale/Swap area, and towards the back of dining room a Fan Display area where I would bring my securable standing display cases if anyone wants to show off their customs SAFELY (it is a restaurant) or maybe their megos (i've never seen a solid box in person before... tee hee) I will bring my entire collection of wgsh figures in original box packaging along with my wgsh playsets/vehicles with packaging for fun eye candy and as a handy visual accessory reference.
I still need to pm everyone on this thread, and I will, probably this weekend. And about a week or so before event I will contact all on thread if they are coming ( it is fluid, I understand), just to get an idea. I really like this idea of having Mego-Eat for mego collectors and any family they bring, so I admit I would get a little bummed if this gets too viral and a bunch of Comic-Con fanboys with little or no interest in actual megos show up. Or worse, toy bandits/pickers who front as enthusiasts and try to buy everything at event for re-selling purposes. I know I sound paranoid, but they exist in portland, I've had this happen to me at a smaller mego thing I did and I also speak from experience as a (reformed) toy bandit. So for now, I delicately ask if we can keep this a mego museum gathering and also for those who you know and respect the hobby and come with you. One area of store will be board game zone for kids or maybe Wife Commisseration Hangout. ha!
I will also make a promise as host, that I will strongly attempt to persuade no selling or swapping before the designated start time of Mego-Eat, or at least politely ask everyone to be gentlemanly and choose not to do this before event begins. We seem to have a decent contingent of people coming from far away and I want those who travel 2-3 hours and show up on time to enjoy as much as anyone.
I'm so excited about this! I also have a frind who brews beer. Shall we make a Mego Beer? What would it taste/look like?INEPT VINTAGE WISENHEIMER

^^Sounds like a great idea as a setup.
I understand your worry, Mike, about the bandits and I've seen them in action down in Portland as well as the Seattle area. I agree. It's a good idea to keep everything in check and make sure folks do not begin prior to opening up. Best to let all folks show up, even for the late comers. If you need help setting up, I can be up there early since I'll be spending in the night in Portland with family on Saturday.
As for the beer, my vote is for a hoppy IPA to go with the pizza. Or a light amber pale with a hint of berries.Comment

Hey everyone. The shirt idea is coming together. I just need to get an accurate head count of who will be ordering shirts for certain. Depending on how many are being purchased, it will determine the final cost. Basically, we have to order at least 24 shirts. If we order up to 36, the price per shirt drops a little. And then a little more at 72, and so on. I am guessing we will be at the 24 or 36 range which should put the shirts at about $12-$15 each. I understand that folks won't want to put sizes and such on here. If you could, please PM me with the size shirt you want and how many. The shirts generally run a little large, but I am ordering a couple blank samples in my own size (based on factory size measurements) to get a better idea. I generally wear a 2XL, but going off the measurements, a 2XL in young mens sizes will fit me while the adult 2XL is slightly bigger. Kind of strange I know. Once we get a head count, and I get my samples (samples should be here next week) I can provide more info on the shirts, and you will all have access to the measurement chart to determine sizes. We can then make certain that when the actual shirts ordered will fit each person well. I will also post this in the "Mego-Eat" posting for the shirt design too. Again, If you intend to buy a shirt for this, please PM ASAP with the needed info.Looking for:

I'll be taking some customs to show and I believe Paul and maybe Lonnie will be bring their custom warez so I would assume the answer is yes to custom stuff such a parts and clothing. Full on customs, I bet some folks will want to purchase some.

Personally, I'm not sure how much disposable income people will bring so I dunno. As this is a first time event, I want people to come for the comraderie and show their custom stuff and maybe do some selling/swapping. I would feel bad if people came a ways hoping to sell and make big bucks like this is a big toy show or something, which it is not (though vintage mego stuff will be there for sale). If you haven't already, Blackknight, and others, post a link to your stuff available for sale and welcome people to pm you about buying stuff in advance. But you probably got that covered I'm sure.
I guess as the host, I don't want ANYONE to be disappointed, either as a buyer or seller or trader or as a mego fan in general who wants to socialize with like kin.
Right now we're looking at core group of 14 or so most likely (this includes wives, family and buddies) with another 5-10 as maybes who have not officially confirmed but express interest. This is why I wanted it same weekend as comiccon pdx. I'm hedging my bets...Last edited by mikeMc6; Jan 26, '13, 6:11 PM.INEPT VINTAGE WISENHEIMER
