sniper is the way to go. I use auctionsniper.com--never had a problem. If you have a slow internet connection, this is a must for sure.

It seems to me that bidding early just causes me trouble later because people know someone else is interested, so I've been trying to manually snipe at the end. I've screwed up with the time zone difference, and sometimes it's just too hard because an auction ends at 2am my time. That's how I missed the last one, I fell asleep...

I was also using dial up until a few weeks ago, and that was always an adventure - will I get disconnected for no reason? And, How LONG is this page gonna take to load?!? Many times an auction ended before my bid got processed. I have Verizon FIOS now, boy it's fast. Many sites used to take so long to load that I never really surfed, now I can, and I've discovered this wonderful board.

What do the snipe services charge, and is one much different, or better, than another?

i use to use Esnipe.com , it was the original and pretty good. they are all similar pretty much. They charge similar to what ebay/paypal does in fees. At one time they where all free.
the best thing to do is not advertise what you bid on or who you shop from I have found. I have two ebay names just for that reason.

I missed an auction for a Dinah-mite once because I suddenly realized I already had more of them than any sane person should be allowed to own.

After the auction ended, I regretted my decision. Sanity is overrated.

I posted a thread once about some POTA outfits I lost for under $40.00 and one of the outifts was a Lepage Sgt. outfit! I was enraged! But in the end I got a real nice Lt. outfit to calm my nerves! Not to mention I lost an AHI Hulk van for $13.00 cause I had to run out to the store right then and there! That's one I will NEVER get over. *smh*
Please don't get me started on the bump-and-go Hawkeye Peirce motorcycle for $11.00..........

i hear ya. I've looked and lost several vintage Ghost Rider motorcycle figures over the years. I blame my wife first and the AOL second....or is it the other way around.
