What was your oddest Mego purchase in 2007?

I love doing recap threads, like the title asks what was the mego item you bought that didn't really jive with what you collect?

For me I think it would be Ace Frehley, I am not really into KISS (although I went through that phase as a teen) and wouldn't put him on my want list but there he is now, in my toy room.

last week I was lookin at an antique shop for some different Oz stuff that they usually have like books and games. I wasn't really looking for mego's and as soon as I walked in i caught a glimpse of a complete Mego Dorothy loose even with her original bows......10$....it so weird but cool. It is what I collect but I really didn't need it

Unlike Sean I am not an avid Oz collector but somehow I found myself to be the owner of all 4 Munchkins.

I also took some hard looks at some Dinah Mites this past year but I was able to stave off "The Hunger".

I suppose it would have to be a boxed Dorothy and mailer boxed Tin Man. They were on Buy It Nows and seemed too good to pass up on. As much as I was really impressed with the figures they just didn't gel with me and so I sold them on again. It was a (yellow brick) road I wasn't about to start down.

I'm pretty sure everything else I purchased was wanted.

10" Megos and Mego customs. I sold off everything not 8" a couple years ago, but 07 saw me missing my Flash Gordon figures so I've reaquired them. Plus had the chance to score two more "Palitoy" Logan's Run 10" custom figures.

Not really "odd" purchases, but that shelf of toys doesn't quite fit in with the rest of my Mego collection.

The oddest buy for me was getting a lot of custom megos.They were punisher, flash, daredevil,mr.freeze,and silver surfer.
my brother thought they were crappy, but I enjoy them as much as any mego I have.

Hmm, I didn't purchase anything odd really. My whole collection fits together well since it's all TT stuff anyway. I did purchase a few customs though if one might consider that odd. But the customs I purchased are detailed and just stunning and look great on my shelf next to my original Megos. Just like MegoGeekJr said, I enjoy and value my purchased customs as much as anything on my Mego shelf.

A Spiderman bank. Now that's not really odd, its just different than the figures I usually get. Its also the reason why I now feel the need to buy the rest of the darn banks.

I was at Adventure Con in Knoxville this summer, and a really nice General Lee was calling to me. I then remembered seeing 3 3/4 Bo and Roscoe figures at another booth. So I suddenly have a Pocket Dukes collection going. Nostalgia bites my wallet again!

since this is my second go around in mego collecting i've been able to kinda fine tune my true wants and buy just those and fortunate enough to stay away from the waltons, our gang, and buying stuff just bec it's a mego.

I got two this year that are kind of out of whack. One is a non action figure related mego toy called Thorilla the Gorilla. But it was an ape and rhymed with my ebay/museum name. The second was the Bill Lemmon chess piece that was given to John McNett. I thought it would be a nice converstion piece for those times when I feel like having a conversation with myself.
