A friend of mine turned the automatic oven cleaner on without taking the plastic tupperware she was storing in there first and she couldn't get back in her house for two weeks while the toxins cleared the air. Everything in the house smelled like burned plastic. The couch, the clothes, everything had to be replaced. It would have been a good post if she shared the loss of her collection but to ask for a toy hand out, come on!

Wow! Now that would be a heck of a story to tell for sure.

It's like those guys on Craigslist that advertise pristine 1965 Mustangs for $2800 and when you email them they tell you the car is in storage and if you just send them the cash first they'll gladly ship it to you.

I don't know why i was giving this a second thought but i was thinking. If this was legit she wouldn't have come here asking for stuff you need just to live. She might have gone to some churches or the salvation army etc. The other places she said she hit might have been geared towards other items. If it was megos that needed to be replaced then you would come here and ask for megos, not cloths. Just another point of view. With that i still think it was a hoax.
And i might be a little more sympathetic since i actually did have this kind of horrible thing happen to me. Of course i didn't go begging for handout from strangers either. There are only a handful of people here i told of my ordeal when i first signed up. This is the most i have mentioned it since then.

My Small Mego collection is a Luxury I built from the ground up. I sweated and bartered and spent hard earned money to make it. I understand that. But in light of a disaster like fire and such. Toys are the last thing I would need or ask for to get my life back together. Personally I would face the realization that I built my collection before and face the fact that I alone will have to do it again!!!

Good morning all. When I posted this, I knew deep down that it would probably go this way. As many of you pointed out, the Internet is full of people trying a scam in one way or another. I had hoped that I would be given the opportunity to prove my statements to be true before being so harshly judged, but quick judgements are the way of the Internet...I know, as I've been guilty of it.

To answer a few of the comments... I *am* applying for other forms of financial aid for food, clothes, etc. I resorted to posting here because I had hoped to be able to do something to make my kids feel better. This happening during Christmas was devastating for them. Getting them the "new" Megos is something I've thought about, but the money just isn't there right now. I waited 2 days to post here again because of the multiple mean spirited replies that were being posted. As I said in my initial post, I'm aware that my request was begging, and I hoped that people here would not be too harsh with me. I'm just not up to defending myself right now.

I'm not going to attempt to take the higher ground in fighting back against the accusations here, as I did knowingly put myself out there to be ridiculed.

I'm withdrawing my request for assistance, as I realize that it was unrealistic for me to expect this to go any other way than it did.
