i`m thinking it was for the made for tv movie they made back then but i don`t remember
Yep, I've watched some Spider-man on the TV series since 1977-'78 (few showing up), later on the TV company stopped it, never showing up forever.......
That's sweet!! Nothing like some classic Romita Spidey!!! He was one of the "kings" of rendering the wondrous wall-crawler!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
Cool shot Randy- I really dig Romita's Spidey. It was a great era.....
One of the best! If you ever notice, by and large MOST of the images you see of Spidey on various stuff is STILL either a Romita image or Romita-esque. His influence on the wall-crawler was profround and will likely be everlasting!

Nice! I'd have to say (with almost 100% certainty) that it was intended to promote the comic strip (which debuted in January 1977 but was picked up later by many papers). The "by Stan Lee and John Romita" sorta gives away its purpose (they did the first several years of the strip). If it had been intended to promote the TV series, I would imagine a photo of the actor in costume would have been used, and time and channel would be listed.
