Tons of Batmans and Hulks. Pretty standard for Mego distribution at that point.

Watched the clip and I'm pretty sure that amongst all those Hulks and Batmans there is one Conan and one Falcon.

Sadly, the associated images are no longer on the original server (someday I'll go and re-link them), but I compiled a list of Mego WGSH in The Toy back when I was still blogging about the book:

Wow, nice breakdown Benjamin. When was this film shot, 1980-81? I'm surprised that mid 70's releases were still selling in retail stores at that time, especially something as limited in production as the carded Falcons.

Falcon surprised me, too. But giving it some thought…

I understand that Falcon, as with the other 'scarce' 3rd Wave characters (Green Arrow, Green Goblin, Lizard and Iron Man), suffered more from limited marketing and poor sales, as opposed to limited production. By all accounts, Mego produced plenty of each character on their HTF 2nd Issue cards… yet all were so-called peg-warmers.

With that in mind, I'm less surprised by the appearance of two Falcon cards in an early 80s movie than I am by the omission of the other four peg-warmin' characters from the same Wave.

Also, you mentioned shooting schedule. Released in December 1982, it's reasonable to assume the "Wonder Wheel" scene was shot late-1981 or early 1982. Mego issued Falcon and the other 3rd Wave characters around Spring 1977. That leaves approximately a four-year window from active distribution to filming… possibly less depending upon when the film's Set Dresser arranged for that display.

Given Mego WGSH were on store shelves – consistently – from 1973 into the mid 1980s, four years doesn't seem too long.

Never noticed the mego's in there before!

This movie holds a special place for me. Went to see it with my entire family New Years Eve 82-83. Just thinking about it chokes me up.

                  Thanks for the post!

This is a longer version of the Wonder Wheel scene. If you go to 3:44 you can see The Falcon, Thor and Mxyzptlk in the background.

If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.
