What does it take to finish a set?

Only figure I need to complete the WGSH is an Aqualad, and the thing is going through the roof lately, just bid $305 on one and got outbid!!!!! I guess the book value goes out the door when multiple people want one, but come on, this seems ridiculous.

I was so sure he would be mine, I even made a space for him and prepared to celebrate the completion of Star Trek / POTA / and WGSH's.... MEGO karma got me, "never count a MEGO before you win the auction".

It's weird how one figure can elude you. The last one for me (besides the Alter Egos) was Wondergirl. It took me a long time to find a nice one without any fading of the stars, and I finally had to bite the bullet and ante up to get her.

I am really digging your neat pictures. Hey, Some of those figures look familiar.

Have no fear on the Aqualad figure. As with anything Mego there will be another one pop up. Some time ago I seen one sell here in the market place for and unheard of price of $75.00!!!!! Needless to say that sale did not last long at all.

Mego's come and go all of the time. The prices fluctuate like the stock market. Low today high tomorrow and vice versa.

Patience is a virtue. You will get one. It may not be today, tomorrow or next week, but you will definitely get one and at a decent price if you are patient enough.

        Best wishes!

Yup, no rush, I didn't have a stand for him anyway! I bought 60, and it takes 61 to house WGSH/POTA/Star Trek, so it wasn't meant to be, he would just be sitting there feeling out of place.

It'll pop up when you least expect it. I wasn't even looking for it at the time but an outfit for The Riddler popped up on Ebay with a BIN of ten bucks. I jumped on that.

It took me almost 2 years to complete my 8" Mego collection,
and finally acquired the lone holdout, Jean Lafitte, the morning I was displaying my full collection for the first time.

It's funny how there are a handful of us that are just shy an aqua lad for an entire set.

Yeah you ether have to have more patience or pay over the odds, that why you get spikes in the market, but the price always comes down when they have had their fill.

I know how badly it is to fulfill a set. Still chasing some figures myself... Be patient and don't overpay. I didn't pay more than $200 for any of my Teen Titans... I too am looking for the Aqualad but that one yesterday went for a bit more than it was worth in my opinion... The MOC go for around $500 so anything more than $250 I feel is overpaying, but a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. Good luck... See you in the bidding rooms.

Savour your last figure, otherwise it will drive you crazy.

patience and luck go hand in hand for these harder to get figures. I actually snagged a naked Aqualad on these baords for $15.00 a while back. with figures as rare as the TT I have no problem using repro stuff to complete them. I can't justify spending hundreds for a toy, any toy.

I set a goal of not spending over $100 on an individual figure, at one time, unless it was just a killer deal on a rare one. I only broke that rule 3 times. I got my SS Supergirl and Batgirl for $100 each, and bought my CSS Spidey for $300 at the same Meet because it was immaculate and I had a good sales day that year.

Never been over triple digits other than that. I have bought collections that cost me tons but never for one figure. Don't think I even have a figure in my collection from a big buy. They always seem to be the more common stuff.

I like the hunt rather than just completing it and sitting back. I could buy em and be done but then what would I do? Now I need some accessories which have been tough to get, and some of the rarer figures like Romulan, Andorian, Mystery Pilot, etc and need the AE's too.

The only high accessory figure I didn't piece together was Conan. From a member here complete and mint. I needed gauntlets and the axe and ended up selling the one I was "building" for $20 less than what I paid for the complete one. Worked out well in the end. Still didn't go over $100 though.

The lack of toy shows has made it really hard. I've pulled some great stuff out of parts boxes for pennies. I can remember hitting a ton of boots, including IM and Thor out of a pile at a GI Joe convention in Philly years ago, 25 cents each, and completing a dead mint Robin from parts for like $5 at the same show. Man do I miss those days. Still waiting to find a mint Thor helmet or unbroken GA quiver in a parts box. Maybe someday, but until then they look good holding Doc's parts or a scratched up/non mint original I was fortunate enough to find.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.
