I think they should scrap trying to replicate the Mego body and make a 2.0 of the Stooge body. Their main demographic is for 'civilians.' If they would release a quality body like the Stooge one, only a little more customizer-friendly, they could find a niche. I don't see how they'll compete with Doc/CAT/Zica unless they come up with something almost as good and sell it dirt cheap.

Interesting they were near the front of the line with the licensed re-mego phenomenon, yet they got out of it when it finally picked up steam. another competitor is always welcome, especially if they can improve their quality and bring something new to the table. It would be interesting to see if they improve the bodies and re-release things they still can (non-licensed), and perhaps pick up some of the more modern licenses, which seemed to be the direction they were considering. They could find a unique niche with more 80's properties and even more recent ones. I'm also curious if they have gone back to China and abandoned India for their more recent products.

If they can prove they can make quality T-2 bodies (like their glow bodies) on a consistent basis, I'd be all for them branching out into other bodies again. They did make more varieties of body than anyone besides Mego to date, just not well.

CTV's figures were priced at $15, but they couldn't sell them
at that price, so they dropped it to $5 thereby undercutting
anyone who bought wholesale from them.
^ Good point. I think its basically "you get what you pay for"....thats HOW they are able to sell boxed/carded dolls for $5 each; the quality STINKS!No, that was harsh of me.... I think that a nice suit and a compliment of repro accessories is surely worth $5, even if their bodies are pretty much rubbish. Hold/manipulate a CTVT body with one hand, and a screw-back Doc body in the other......A blind man with one hand could easily differentiate as far as build quality. Even without expenses like character rights and whatnot, if CTVT used Doc's/ZICA's bodies, the dolls would need to be at least $15....

My son will be thrilled. He still wants the monsters.

The undercutting was painful, and they screwed themselves on their parts business by cutting the bulk discount they originally offered me (for purchases over $1000). I was moving a boatload of parts for them until they did that. I didn't lose money on them as a dealer, but I could have made them a lot more.
Ultimately it came down to their impatience (in more ways than I can count), and more so their unwillingness to reject shoddy manufacturing.
